Sweet. I wonder how the commentary tracks are allocated.
Audio commentaries were present for all 26 episodes on the BD/DVDs as well as on the DVD OVA, so that's where all 14 tracks are included.

Uh-oh. This a bad thing, isn't it? If they are going the Sentai route, I mean. Didn't their 1080i releases result in compression issues?
We shouldn't assume that Japanese authoring is the same as Sentai's ineptitude at QC/authoring. The Infinite Stratos BD-Box is also listed at 1080i (with original BDs at 1080p), so it's unlikely to be any issues. I think this issue is over-rated since we see 1080i discs without any issues all the time. It's one NA company who refuses to perform good QC/authoring time on this issue, not an industry-wide problem.

With 'Sentai trick' I meant putting out cheaper releases as 1080i so they differ from the singles by having (perceived) lower quality, even if with any decent player like a PS3 there shouldn't be a quality difference. They (Japanese licensors) have been doing this for R1 releases, but I could see them do it for domestic releases as well to prevent cannibalizing single sales - even if not for this series, it might hurt future series' single sales if buyers know there will be a cheapish box a year down the line.

Putting out BD box sets for recent series is still kind of a new thing, so who knows what kind of sales model they will converge to; in five years we might see singles disappear and the majority of series released as half season boxes, or whatever...

Or... 1080i may in fact be the correct format for Nichijou (if it has 30fps content, or was mastered as interlaced video), haven't seen the series yet.

Or... it's a typo in the official listing.

^If that's true, then Japanese license holders once again shows their demented greed.
