Post Durarara and Darker Than Black Season 2 Going to Aniplex?

Aniplex USA's first release is due out in July with the first Gurren Lagann movie and on that disc we get a couple of ideas of what to expect for the future. In the "Aniplex Trailers" section, they contain three trailers. The first is for the second Gurren Lagann movie, "The Lights in the Sky are Stars." The second is for the second season of Darker Than Black...

This is just great news for me. Durarara!! has been a fantastic watch, and I'm really looking forward to a release for the show.

As far as Darker Than Black 2 is concerned, I'd have to get the 1st season before I consider the second one.

Already posted in the R1 thread, but, yay.

The sooner the better on Drrr!!, Aniplex. I'm already 5 R2s into it so if I'm gonna switch, it needs to be soon. Not that Aniplex would particularly want me to switch... I don't suppose there's any hope for the R1 of Drrr!! to continue the gorgeous twin-super jewel packaging of the R2, eh?

As for DTB: Ryuusei no Gemini, that's a possible pick-up too. It was one of the best shows of the season, and questionable ending aside is worth a purchase. It'll depend on price, though.

And seriously Aniplex, I'd pay the extra to just keep importing the R2s if you'd put the subtitles on those discs too...

I'll be interested to see the episode count/price point for Durarara.

Great news for people who wanted them out, bad news for those who thought Funimation would release them.

I'm not interested in either.

I'm fine with Durarara being released by them, but it's a shame about DtB Season 2. I'll still pick it up, but aside from Baccano it was my favorite FUNi dub of '09, so it's disappointing we won't see more of it.

Hopefully the prices won't be too high. I get what they're doing by charging more and having more bonus features, but NIS America is essentially doing the same thing and their prices are more reasonable IMHO.

Ah, nice to have confirmation on the two series. Even if I have no plans to rush out and get either one. Never mind the fact, I haven't really felt like getting the first season of DtB.

Well, Aniplex is only getting started. Who knows? Eventually they may decide to announce series that will end up working for me.

In any case, one other nice thing about both of these is they're TV series. Meaning that will hopefully soon I'll get an idea as to what I can expect if they license TV series that I might be more interested in.

So, should I take this to mean that Darker than Black and Baccano didn't sell well enough for Funi, and that they passed on the second season and DRRR? Or that animplex decided to release their own shows on their own?

Second season of Darker than Black pissed me off, but I'm still angry about DRRRR. I wanted a Funi dub for that show.

There might be a third option as well. It may be that B&Ms cutting back FUNi just couldn't get all their product into the stores and has been more judicious in what they pick up.

Of course the whole "singles" release might have had a hand to play in the original sales or current pass (if FUNi did). Maybe Aniplex wanted something else FUNi didn't feel they could (or that it was worth) aqueous too in the current market.
