Not unless they really do hold Working'!! v3 and Idolmaster Animation Master 06 until late January for Working'!! v4 but I doubt they will.

Personally, my sweet spot for S&H is 10 items. ¥470 per item at that point. Smallest order I'll do is 6 or 7 if I really want to get something ordered and not wait until I replenish my wishlist with new stuff.
Ok, well that will be over my budget. I guess I gonna stick with the way I do it right now. Let's hope they won't hold it too long.

Just as a point of reference, for me they've generally been keeping my orders together as intended, only splitting off two magazines into a second shipment likely due to being at two different warehouses. But then again, my orders are generally more in the "monthly" style anyway.

That aside, yes, it used to be a long time ago that you got hit with a 1000 yen surcharge when you hit 10 items, so my magic number used to be 9 items. They've gotten rid of that surcharge now, but I still generally keep my orders about that size, unless it's a boxset, in which case I might put it in its own order (which I order well in advance to ensure I get any subsequent price drops).

And, by the way, it looks like they've made another small adjustment to the "initial split" policy. A few weeks ago, it would group any items released within 20 days into a single shipment, but right now it seems to be lumping any in stock items into a split, with the rest of the pre-ordered items into a second split. I'm not sure if you can force the whole thing to ship together if it's within 10 days as the old rule went, but I'll find out soon.

I just made an order, including something that ships in about six days, but it still split the two in-stock items off into there own shipment and started processing them.

How interesting. I'm probably going to place an order next week (first one since end of July) at Amazon (but, I've been keeping up with this split shipment conversation here) and looks like the situation you explained would affect me (not in a bad way). I have some in-stock items to order along with two December pre-orders.

So, that's good to know. My two pre-order items are going to be released a week apart - I don't care if they ship separately, but makes me wonder if Amazon will lump them together.

Yeah, that seems consistent. It occurs to me now that this may be a temporary adjustment with them trying to get as much things out the door as quickly as possible for the holidays (just like I always noticed in the past an increase in auto-splits in December). So it's possible that things might revert to the 20-day rule in January... we'll see.

I feel like I've gotten bizarro treatment from Amazon.jp and Co. My DHL is always perfect (which is good) but I've never ever experienced them holding something for more than 1 day, even a year ago. I've had them ship items separately from the same warehouse because one was a pre-order that wouldn't be released for another 36 hours.

I never got charged extra so i wasn't an issue, but still. I'm always the odd man out with companies.

It sort of depended on how you made your orders, I think. If you pre-ordered a whole bunch of items well in advance, for the last few years they would basically ship each item separately unless all the pre-ordered items were being released within 10 days of the order date, in which case they'd try to keep the shipment together. In November they changed that a bit to (generally) group pre-ordered items into fewer shipments, and now they've revised that slightly to ensure all in stock items are shipped right away. At the end of the day, the impact this has on any given customer depends on the sorts of orders they were creating and the release timing for all the included items.

What reamin to be seen now, is how long will they keep pre-order items when they are in stock when, as I do you pre-order every volumes of a series in a same order.

I made a new order and the new shipping "rule" by Amazon JP seems to be a big disadvantage for this one.

I ordered: All 6 BDs of Haganai, first 4 CDs of K-ON! and first 2 BDs of K-ON! (season 1). There is 2 shipments, but since K-ON! BD Vol. 1 is set at: Usually ships within 1 to 3 weeks it will ship with all 6 BDs of Haganai, in other words, in June. Well, I sincerely hope they will ship it sooner...

Edit: There is now 3 shipments, 1 CD will ship alone, probably because it was in another warehouse.

Default Can I know if an item is "reserved for my order"

I was wondering if, on Amazon JP, there was anyways to know if an item is "reserved for my order". Now that they may keep the item for a certain time. I know there is the item page, but there may be a case where they only have enough to fill orders/pre-orders.
