Post Square Enix Launching Digital Manga Store is U.S. and France

With more and more scanlation aggregator sites going offline due to pressure from publishers, more digital initiatives are showing up from both the US and Japanese side to fill the void that is starting to show. Square Enix is sending out notice that they're doing just that in the fall of this year with a site for US and French fans that revolves around manga, communities, shopping and more...

It's too early for me to say if I like the end result, but for now I like the idea. Still part of it is going to depend on what series they end up putting up as well.

Like for example, I'd like to read preview chapters of Cafe Detective Club.

Regardless, I get the feeling I'd mainly use it to preview while waiting for print versions to come out and then buying select ones based on various factors. Hint the better series will have a better chance of being bought.

My understanding is it will be the same series already licensed for release in the US. It's nice to have options, but I'm not interested in paying for digital books (especially when I already have physical copies).
