Wow. They used actual, real eroge. I recognized AkaneIro, C.D. II, Cross Days, Flyable Hearts, and School Days. Kirino's tastes are, of course, much broader than mine so I did not recognize many of them.

Kirino bought the R1 version too.^^

I loved the way they adapted the scene where Kirino has Kyouske play the eroge. That was perfect.

Overall, I thought the episode was nearly perfect. Nakamura and Taketatsu play off of each other very well--even better than they did in the drama CD. The opening addition was not needed and, I think, it distracted a bit from the story. However, once the episode got back on track, it was flawless.

As we were commenting in the PV thread, the art is basically spot on from the novel. Perhaps you saw images of the manga version of Kirino, who does look younger. It probably helps to have the novel illustrator working on staff.

I'm still worried about how long they can take the "secret otaku" angle without tiring it, but this episode was fantastic. Impressive how they carried a whole half of it with just a conversation, but then again the protagonists have great chemistry.

I have been puzzled by this; the PV's alone should have been a clue at how different her voiced sounded.

I think it's the fact that K-on! and OreImo are seen as otaku pandering, which causes some people out there to shut down their brains. I'm OK with opinions but the whole denying of reality can get creepy.

They might both be otaku pandering, but one key difference is the anime turned K-On! into a best seller whereas the OreImo novels already sold well (900,000 copies over the first five volumes as of this past May). Although, honestly, they don't have a lot in common. I think it would be best to compare OreImo to say Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, etc.

Taketatsu Ayana's a very new seiyuu, and, to be honest, this season is the first time she's had a chance to really show her range.

I have seen the comments about Taketatsu Ayana having only one voice, but her voice in the PV alone should have made anyone, at the very least, withhold judgement, since she does indeed sound different.

I can only attribute it to willing disregard for reality, fueled by the dislike of the shows she is in.

Haven't actually seen that myself but than again I was arguing on ANN with someone who said Romi Paku had one voice... so who knows. I don't think she will have great range but she certainly has some and isn't as limited as say Toyosaki. How far her range goes depends on how forced it becomes, someone like Tomatsu can do so many voices effortlessly.. she'll never reach that level but she should aim to get around the Hayamin and Yuuki Aoi level.

I can't deny that in general, that "keeping a secret" plot lines worry a bit too. Since there's only so much you can do with "If they find out, it's the END OF THE WORLD!"

I would be shocked if they didn't pull a "I've been discovered! What will I do?" plot as a way to provide a cut-off point. Which will either be resolved one of two possible ways or rather three.

She'll learn the ones that discovered it aren't actually as negative as she expected. She'll confront them and make them understand. Somehow the ones who discovered it will be tricked into thinking they made a mistake.

In any case, on a general note. The parents attitude towards the idea gave me a thought. Often times, people will act like hobby X is the worst thing ever. Yet I would suspect that they or at least some of them have a hobby Y that's also not highly regarded by some. It seems like it's a lot easier to treat something as negative if you're not interested in it or pay much attention to it.
