I finally had the time to catch up.

So Fairy Tail's A-team was beaten out by... Fairy Tail's B-team! Yes, apparently this is allowed. Well that explains some of the scenes from the OP. Mavis is pretty amusing. Also, one of the top-ranked enemy teams is the Dark Guild run by Makarov's son Ivan, who have somehow managed to be accepted as a legitimate guild. After each team chooses a member to compete based almost unanimously on whims, it's time for the first standard competition to begin! We have the schedule, so let's see just how closely the coming events manage to actually adhere to it.

Interesting they chose purple as a team color.
At least they found Wendy.
So the 8 guilds who passed the preliminaries are presented.
A dark guild is participating as well. Looks like they're to blame for Wendy's condition.
The biggest surprise was Fairy Tail them B.
This was a pretty cool episode! I'm looking forward to the fights.
Now it's once again starting to look like Fairy Tail from the first days.

Actually a pretty interesting game to start things off. The way they kept adding pointless rules after the players had already started was a little annoying, though. Well, Sabertooth certainly proves their worth, Raven Tail is just there to crush Fairy Tail, and both Fairy Tail teams are losing to everyone else. B-team is still beating A-team, though, so maybe they'll get to order them around or sexually violate them or whatever. Yeah, not going to happen. Time for some good old fighting. First, Lucy vs. creepy girl!

The Grand Magic Games have finally begun.
First game "Hidden" was really interesting.
This game of hide and seek really gave a new meaning to the original game.
It sounded easy, but it really wasn't.
Very complex and intriguing game which needed serious skills.
Eve was definitely smart and used a good tactic, but Rufus was just amazing!

So Elfmann looks like he's a permanent replacement. They better have something good planned for Wendy because I don't appreciate the bait and switch on her being a member of the team. At least the episode was pretty good otherwise.

Episode 157:

- Wendy. ;_; At least she can participate in later days of the tournament, theoretically. And Poluchka/Grandine being with her should be recipe for a level-up.
- New outfits. Don't care about the guys but Lucy looks very nice. More mixed on Erza.
- MAVIS! The ghost has come to cheer them on.
- Sherry's cousin, Cheria. Also cute.
- Hahah what. A second Fairy Tail team joined. Mirajane, Laxus, and Mystogan (Jellal) on the same team? With Gajeel and Juvia as quite strong second-tier members? Honestly a team like that would probably take down the main team 40% of the time in a fair match, after you strip out the usual protagonist cheating, especially with only Elfmann as the 5th. It'd be a lot higher if not for Erza.
- And Juvia with her hair down <3 <3
- Mavis is adorable as hell. Awesome ahoge always help.

Episode 158:

- "I don't care about the rest so I'll cut this short." MAVIS IS BEST MASTER.
- "Hidden" was a pretty interesting setup. But wow you suck, Gray.
- First battle round is Lucy vs crazy yandere-looking chick.

What amuses me about Flare is that she's voiced by Itou Shizuka, who also voices Takei Hisa in Saki. And Flare looked up an older, crazy, coked up Hisa.

Lucy fights that sadistic bitch from Raven Tail, who takes children on the sideline hostage to try to win. Lucy is really impressive, though. It's amazing that Fairy Tail has gotten so much better even when everyone else had seven years to train and they didn't. Fortunately, Natsu comes to the rescue, but Lucy's ultimate finishing move is thwarted by more outside interference.

So I guess they're going to keep Fairy Tail at zero for as long as they possibly can to make the ultimate comeback. Or maybe something will happen to disrupt the tournament and they'll be dealing with bigger issues. We do hear some Zeref mentions.

Also, that Angel-like girl clearly has a connection, based on her reaction to Gemini.

And how the fuck is Mavis so adorable?
