Default (The) Flowers of Evil Volume 1

Just finished reading the first volume and I must say I never thought I'd read another manga licensed in the US that would come close to the perviness of Sundome. It's doesn't come close to the visuals pervy-wise of Sundome, (so far) but the lead female could give Kurumi a run for the money. I'm looking forward to see where this is going because Nakamura is one sick girl.

I could call myself a fan of Sundome (avatar, duh), but it might be more accurate to say I was a fan of Kurumi. I actually never found Sundome to be especially good or impressive as a manga; it was just that, bottom line, Kurumi pushed most every button I own. I was as helpless to resist as Hideo.

The Flowers of Evil, OTOH, is a more impressive and accomplished work on most every level. I don't know that there's another manga in current release that leaves me as eager for the next installment at the end of each volume. You should definitely hasten to read Volume 2; things only get more perversely fascinating as the story proceeds.

I could have purchased the second volume but didn't plop down coin for both in case I didn't like the first volume. Hindsight.... I may be wrong, but I don't see TFOE having the amount of humor Sundome had, if any. There's such an undercurrent of dread in TFOE that a little smattering of humor would balance it out a wee bit for me. I'm not complaining, but it does stress me out a times.
