Yep, though previous volumes are still higher due to bigger first weeks, same as Madoka v5.

AnoHana v3's second week is 2,742 vs 2,660 last time.
IS v5's second week is 2,763 vs 2,237 last time.

Hmm maybe Comiket 80 did have an effect after all, small one though.

This really is just criminal. And I don't get it. It was a really well done adaption.

The quality of its adaptation isn't really the point though. I think Kaminomi 's problem is it doesn't have a specific demographic. How many non-action, shounen manga adaptations are popular? You get the occasional harem, but that is a declining genre. Kaminomi is basically too mainstream for otaku but has too many otaku tropes for the mainstream. Now, I admit that the plot does start to get very interesting a bit after the anime ended. Problem is you have to get there first.

Yep, that's the problem of it being "too good an adaption" (tone aside). They really should've had Haqua in S1 and you know who @ the end of S2. What's the point of being a for the most part faithful adaption if you never get to show off the best of it. Would the series have been hurt of they had done say.. karate chick in a hypothetical season 3 if the show was actually popular? I don't think so... of course there's no guarantee the show would've been more popular if done this way but I think the chances would've been higher...

Take Medaka Box written by Nisio of Bakemonogatari fame for instance.. if it's faithfully adapted by Gainax as rumored and the series is 1 cour.. it's going to suck for the most part. For it to actually be a good anime and heavily feature the character who "saved" the manga (Kumagawa-senpai!) it would have to go through 40 chapters like it was nothing... and than compress another 50 to finish off his arc. (and these chapters are much wordier than a typical WSJ manga)

Basically it would have to be a 4 cour anime for it to actually show off what jas made the manga the success it is and seeing as how Gainax is rumored to be in charge there's fuck all chance of that happening. Not to mention getting people to actually stick with the show for the first 20 episodes...

More than likely will be a commercial for the manga and just be 1 arc, pity it will be horribly misleading.

In this case, I'm rather inclined to agree. Ultimately though, it's really the manga's fault for taking too long to get to the point. That's perfectly fine for a weekly manga (e.g., both Hayate and Negima took a while for the plot to develop). Problem is you can't just skip some of the least interesting arcs because of later events (teacher/dojo girl, for example). Perhaps they could have compressed them into one or two episodes though. But then the show would have felt rushed.

What Kaminomi needed was a year, daytime slot to develop fully. But then we go back to "not-mainstream enough."

Dunno. Maybe the OAD model would work best.

It's very, very possible seeing as this popped up this week.

Maybe it'll just regress into a girl or two every year or two like To Heart 2 has. Bleh, I really want another TV series of that. The long but sparse string of OAVs have been fun enough but impossible to really get into.

Some of those EtB boxes probably aren't even moving triple digits... #300 was only 259 copies this week.

500 seems a reasonable estimate for Steins;Gate v3 DVD. It's between 543 and 408, a narrow enough range to use. Vol. 2 was between 865 and 388 so probably about the same. That would put its sales at about, ohhh... 96% BD, hah.

Adding to original post in a bit.

Yuruyuri v1 as an example: Click "Submit Query" and it gives an explanation of how it's calculating the guess. Though it seems to be a somewhat different guess from the points guess (4.8k vs 4.4k) but that's because it's already calculated the 7th, normal view is only up to the 6th. Unfortunately my meager Japanese understanding stops well short of statistical terminology so I don't know what all the variables are or what the formula is. Seems to be more information if you click on the 初動枚数推測ツール(試作品) はこちらから link. See also http://jbbs.livedoor.jp/bbs/read.cgi...66/1252241449/ from post #11 onward.
