Dude the movie's selling was a given, I thought there was no need to even mention the movies when I was talking about the TV series. If I was talking about the movie's I would of stated it.

Than name these genres that sell better. To help you out I'll list the best selling tv series of recent times... or since Eva anyway... Bakemonogatari, Gundam SEED Destiny, Gundam SEED, Code Geass and Macross Frontier.

It doesn't take a genius to realize that a well produced anime of a show combining popular elements is going to sell well.

To Aru Majutsu no Index II Vol. 2 is 11,195/4,263 for 15,458.

Star Driver Vol. 2 starts at 6,022/3,175 for 9,197. Quite a tumble from 12,392 first week for Vol. 1 (and eventual 14.2k) but Vol. 1 ranked multiple times so Vol. 2 should do just fine. There is probably a small group that bought Vol. 1 only for the insert song though.

Yosuga no Sora Vol. 3 does 5,415/1,164 for 6,579.

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes Vol. 2 starts at 4,901/1,392 for 6,293. Say it adds 1k BDs next week, it'll be quite close to Vol. 1. I guess this will have some consistency.

Motto To LOVE-Ru Vol. 4 does 3,406/2,344 for 5,750

Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls Vol. 4 does 3,314/1,839 for 5,153

Milky Holmes is part of a big mixed-media franchise, so it probably depends on how far they want to take it.

To LOVE-Ru already has Darkness announced then unannounced but it's basically guaranteed.

Hyakka Ryouran, maybe. If they anted to they could do a second season and stay well over the Manabi line, I assume.

Unfortunately there's no reference number past #125 so it's hard to even estimate anything below Fortune Arterial.

There's some info in here though. Fortune Arterial v3 DVD must have done about 900, added to its 1,211 BDs so we're looking at about ~2,100 total. Guess it's going to be about a 2k series.

Panty & Stocking at #153 added maybe 750 DVDs to 1,887 BDs, so perhaps ~2,650 total.

If this was the first week for Bakuman. v2, that doesn't bode too well. BDs didn't rank at a 639 threshold and DVDs were #174... maybe 600 copies? Thankfully the second season was already planned, plus I assume they're banking on manga sales (and general Jump sales) more than anything video-related.

Mitsudomoe, DenYuuDen, MM, Soredemo, Shukufuku, Shiki, Kaminomi are all probably down around 350-500.

A number of priced down sets did in the low-mid hundreds.

If #125 was 917 copies, these probably did... I dunno, between 200 and 700? That indicates to me that priced down bare-bones DVD sets really don't have to move much of anything to be worthwhile. Might bring in a couple tens of thousands of dollars (like, $15-50k average for the sub-ranking boxes? Minus the retailer cut). Must be better than just letting your catalog titles sit doing nothing, at least.

I'm pretty sure Bakuman derives revenue from ratings. It's not a late night anime and should follow the traditional model for a TV series, so I doubt the producers give a shit about disc sales.
