HMV's frequent shopper point thing is needlessly complicated. They have Ponta Points, L-PACA Coupons, and Gift Vouchers. The latter is how we international customers get our points awarded. I guess L-PACA coupons are another way they award them to int'l customers though I don't see why they'd need that... whatever.

And yeah the rules are pretty crazy strict on this offer, jeeze. I won't have anything shipping in July because I had to order through late August (for the second Hidamari box) to avoid doing too many tiny orders and taking an even worse hit on S&H.

Ponta points and gift vouchers are pretty much the same thing. L-PACA coupons seems to be promotional items every once in a while with strict terms that's offered to both international and domestic buyers. The nice thing about the coupons, as I mentioned before, is it stacks with point, so you earn more on an order - I don't mind getting essentially free money if i have to order something already. So, its a nice little promo from hmv.

Default 50% Clearance Sale

So, they're running a 50% clearance sale - don't now when it ends though.

http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/campaign/item/12081000/

If you want to see what Anime BD/DVD are on sale click on the "DVD/Blu-Ray" under category (if you click on anime, you get no results. WTF?), then click on "anime" under genre. From there, you can then check either DVD or BD.

Nothing too amazing (more DVDs are on sale than BDs), but there might be stuff someone wants and 50% off is a pretty damn good deal.

Seems its for stuff before 2012.01.01, there is only 1 title in the DVD/Blu-ray listing when I sort from release date. Everything else is from 2011 and before. The new Ghibli BDs are not on the list... Earthsea is thou.

Sale does include Live Action Adult Porn thou :p If you dont mind the mosiacs.

Now it's an up to 70% off clearance sale. For anime, it's still mostly DVDs of older shows pre-2012 stuff. Only 44 BDs.

Default Current Promotions - +1500 points

Another decent promotion: Buy 10,000 Yen or More DVD & Blu-ray Get +1,500 Bonus Point!. As usual, this stacks with the x5 points if you buy two anime items.

LINK

Ends Tuesday, 8/21 and items must ship by 9/30/2012.

With the Amazon bullshit that just happened with two of my orders this would almost be useful. "Almost" because those points, as far as I can tell, have a very short time limit and its unlikely I would need to order from them again before they expire.

Nope, points/vouchers are good for one year I think after it posts to your account.

Huh. I remember the short shelf life of the points being a reason a previous promotion was so unappealing. Or was that a different kind of points or perhaps a coupon?

Oh, right, HMV points. I have ¥4,236 in points from orders I had to place during the AmaPlex Debacle. Ergh, I hate purchasing from a more expensive (pre-points) store just to use points, but ¥4k is a larger amount than I'm willing to sacrifice. Bleh I'll need to think about this and come up with the most cost-effective items to get from HMV.
