貧乏神が!
Wiki says: "Sakura Ichiko is a 16-year old, happy-go lucky who is full of Happiness Energy. She absorbs her energy from her other surroundings, which disrupts the energy balance of the world. Because of this, Momiji, a poverty god plans to target Ichiko and taker her power away in order to restore the energy balance of the world by possessing her." This one looks interesting.
Sakura is the real renaissance girl. Her luck was totally amazing. Momiji was totally ROFL The preview of Sakura's future with normal luck was *screams & runs away* Looks like Momiji isn't as bad as it seemed at first, but she get's fooled pretty easily. Will be watching this one for the laughs & murderous intent.

WTF did I just watch? A God of Misfortune getting her asskicked for most of the episode and seeing Ichiko making funny faces.
The two have some really good chemistry together Same here. I just hope the show doesn't fall into the same problem at Nyaruko where it started off really good with the fast-paced comedy, then it just dropped.

Ichiko's incredibly stuck up personality was pretty amusing. Her being a completely horrible person would wear itself out pretty quickly, so it was nice to see that she has a good side even before her butler had a heart attack. And yay for Hanazawa Kana.
Unfortunately, I did not find Momiji amusing. I think the only things with her that I found the slightest bit entertaining where here failed attempts to stab Ichiko with the giant syringe. Nothing else she did was the slightest bit funny. This is kind of a big problem. And the show took less than a minute to annoy me with boob envy jokes. Thankfully, it only came up one other time after the OP, but I fear this might be a recurring thing. "Look, its Goku and Vegeta! Here's Medaka, LOL" At least Medaka is recent. DBZ references were "getting old" in 2005. They are now horse paste. If you really want to do something with, then do a super saiyan or kamehameha gag. They're still cheap and past their expiration date, but at least they're "oldies but goodies". Simply slapping the characters in the background almost randomly is just really lazy.

Yea....this episode went a little too much over-the-top to the point where I was rolling my eyes at some of the antics.
Still on the fence of dropping this though as it is still fairly amusing.

Sakura's "good morning" reaction was just priceless!
Momiji as the transfer student ROFL The insults were just flying naturally. All the sabotage effects were really fun to watch. Bobby, the traveling priest, was a semi useful perv. That Sakura sure has a short fuse ^^" Sakura vs Momiji fight was pretty cool. I'm loving this anime more and more. Don't know why but this kinda reminds me of Gintama on some level.

Ichiko is a flawed person, but at the same time she does show signs of having a heart given some of her actions. Really her main flaw is being happy about her success and looking down on others.
Then again to be fair, if I were to say win $1,000 and someone considered me a horrible person because I won money, I'm not going to be like "Wow, they're right. I should be ashamed of my luck" The real problem is with Momiji. She's basically a horrible person. It's blatant that 90% of her motivation is based on wanting to make Ichiko suffer and this is even before she found out what Ichiko was like. Also, I have an issue with the premise of the show. Is the message here "If you succeed, it's because you made someone else suffer?" There's also the issue of the balance in the first place. I mean do we have the opposite going on. Where there are people with too much misfortune and that has to be solved? Or is only having fortune bad? Finally, if Ichiko does turn out to be a God of Fortune in Human form, wouldn't this be like balancing the seasons by deciding "We need to get rid of the Goddess of Spring! That will surely balance the seasons!" So to make a long story short, unless there's more to this show than Momiji being the worst person in existence trying to treat a flawed person like crap then I'm not sure I want to watch anymore.

The director and studio of Gintama, one of my top 5 anime? Why yes, I think I will give this a shot. Certainly no Gintama so far (not that Gintama was any Gintama in the first episode), but it's got plenty of that reference-heavy comedy that they excel in with Gintama. So not a very impressive first episode, but certain elements of it have me pretty optimistic that it will have some promising moments over the course of its run, so I'll be sticking with it to get the most out of all of those.

So this is only one cour. That's too bad. For this kind of anime to really get great, it needs a lot more time, so I fear that never has a chance of happening for this one. Anyway, holy shit references! They definitely gave this to the right people. I really love the way those are played in this episode. Unfortunately, some of the gags just fall flat, which makes for some really awkward and even sometimes irritating moments. And of course the show is about as deep as BakaTest, so I don't expect much out of it in terms of substance. But if it can keep being fun enough, I think I can enjoy it for that. You are no Elizabeth, mascot character.
