Got this in today and...its pretty awesome
The old normal/strong attack combos are back, and there are some new features, such as swapping weapons on the fly and EX attacks. Even if you are a DW veteran, I recommend checking out the tutorial, since there's a few new features, which aren't necessarily obvious. Anyway, I decided to try out the Story Mode, starting with Wei. So far each scenario has had you controlling a different general. First it was Xiahou Dun, then Cao Cao (in a really awesome escape event) then Xiahou Yuan and I just finshed a mission with Dian Wei, where you accompany Cao Cao through the battlefield as his bodyguard, and the scenario is topped off with a duel against Xu Zhu, who is the focus of the scenario I'm about to start. All the maps are new (the Yellow Turban Rebellion sequence was awesome), and just in general it feels incredibly polished. Your general has two weapons at a time, and you swap between them with R1. Swapping weapons initiates a clearing attack, which you can use at the end of a normal combo chain. Each general also has a weapon they specialize in, and with which they get a special EX attack which is activated by hitting Triangle and holding after you finish a specific combo chain. They act as somewhat less powerful, but free to use, Musou attacks.

Awesome and good to know that Koei fixed up their mistake that was DW6.
Got mine preorder, but our release won't come out till next week.

Did you download that free DLC that includes JP audio?
I'm curious as to how it's implemented; and how the cast sounds.

This campaign should be called "Cao Cao, Total Badass"
Anyway, I'm impressed by how long this is. I'm getting a much better feel for the flow of events than with the usual DW game. And there are three other entire story modes!

While the DW vet in me really wanted the game the week it came out, I wouldn't be able to play it until I finish up university for the semester & I'm not too concerned with stock for DW7.
It's good to hear some positive things about the game, though. I haven't played since DW4. Never got around to DW5 (was still beating DW4 100% when it was out - it took two years!) and the negative reviews scared me off of DW6.

Finished the Wei story mode. The last mission is the battle of Fan Castle where (do I really need to spoiler this?) Xiahou Dun kills Guan Yu. After that, Cao Cao dies in his sleep and Cao Pi crowns himself emperor. The very last shot of the cinematic is of Sima Yi looking VERY SUSPICIOUS

Question: How is the music in this game? The last Dynasty Warriors I played (Can't remember which one it was) was on PS2 and it had rock music. I'll probably pick this up sooner or later since I like hack and slash games.
...also is there sexy ninja women? >_> *Cough* |
