[Simulcast] Toriko Episode #01 Review
Review by Chris Beveridge

In Summary:
The life of a Gourmet Hunter certainly is one that would be interesting and you could easily see it being a fascinating reality show here. Toriko is the kind of Shonen Jump show that really looks like it fits in perfectly with its style by being something that is easily open ended, has potential to really expand the world as time goes on and yet be pretty accessible throughout. It's hard to tell if there's something epic to be told here, but it's something that could easily be picked up by anyone and had fun with. It's reminiscent more of Hunter x Hunter for me in terms of approach and style, so there's definitely an appeal there. And again, having a lead that's not in school or near school age, is infinitely appealing. Toriko brings back the manly man lead with a small but nice twist. I'm finding myself cautiously optimistic about the show being a fun romp that may turn into something more.
