So, this is the one shot that started things.

The art is...odd, definitely unpolished. When was this made in relation to the start of actual serialization?

Anyway, its a fairly standard capture plot, girl's name is Mio, ojou-sama, blah blah blah.

Holy shit I like this design for Elsie. Busty and cleavage showing? YES PLEASE. Also she has a scythe, not a broom.

And they totally wussed out on that kiss. She kissed him? On the cheek? Laaaaaame

Alright, that was interesting enough, on to the actual story!

Takahara Ayumi, track team.

60+ page chapter, so we get the whole capture here. Went down just about the same as in the anime, so not much to say about it, other than that Ayumi was really cute.

Was interesting to see some stuff carried over from the one-shot, though with changes. Definitely prefer this teacher. But I miss busty, cleavage Elsie, though it would be weird with her current personality.

And Keima was way too cute when he took his glasses off there at the end. He needs to avoid doing that.

He seemed kinda upset that Ayumi lost her memory, despite what he said about it being convenient

Elsie's Keima's little sister! And the illegitimate daughter of his father!

Keima's mother takes it...slightly better than expected. Slightly.

Keima feels Elsie does not qualify as a little sister! But she tries hard, and he sorta starts accepting her.

And she is a little sister, she has an awesome onee-sama.

Damn that celestial robe...

Wow, already? I remember you expressing interest in reading the manga, but I wasn't expecting you to start a thread for it before the anime finished.

I was already planning on reading it (and making a thread for it if you hadn't already) after the anime finished. Though I might need to wait until after I finish A Feast for Crows or A Dance with Dragons, since I really don't need more things to suck away time from reading those.

I was going to wait, but decided to start, since there's plenty of time (seriously this manga is currently 132 chapters long. What the hell?), and I plan to only do a chapter or so a day after today, and if I catch up, I'll just stop.

I need to get back to those books too, though.

Aoyama Mio 1

New capture target. Aoyama Mio. Short, blonde, twintailed, tsundere ojou-sama. Elsie thinks she'll be a challenge, but Keima says that girls like this are easy once you break their armor.

After a rejected confession, they follow her home and...she's living in a run down apartment!?

Edit: Oh yeah, Elsie dropped a bombshell here. Loose Souls only invade girls because they will eventually be reborn as the girl's offspring. Keima...was not expecting that. Also it seems the school has only recently become co-ed, with only about 200 boys as compared to over 2000 girls

Aoyama Mio 2

Keima is now chauffeuring Mio to school, in an increasingly bizarre series of bikes.

Mio smiles, and its beautiful.

Keima finds an invitation in her mailbox, and he can see the ending!

Aoyama Mio 3

Elsie's...being kinda jealous.

He takes Mio to the ball, where she experiences the scorn of her "peers", and Keima asks if thats what she really wants. If thats the world she wants to live in. And he tells her that she's beautiful when she smiles.

Finally they kiss, and the second loose soul is captured.

The next day, Mio shows up with small change to buy bread, and has changed to normal boots, instead of platform ones, but of course she no longer remembers Keima.

I guess this would be a Viz title if they wanted to release it in the States. I seem to remember hearing that Hayate the Combat Butler (the Viz title closest in spirit and general structure to this) isn't doing all that great in North American sales, is that why we haven't seen The World God Only Knows? It gets good blog buzz.

And I like manga Elsie more than anime Elsie. She's less... moe, at least to start with.
