Either they have Ritsuko be an idol for an arc, or they have her manage her group from idolmaster 2 since now Producer-san is now on-board and work can be split up.

Of course...I was just speculating on another possibility as they can throw in as part of the "pseudo-omnibus" format that mentioned a while back.

Oh come on Westlo, you're perfectly allowed to like what they did but you know as well as I that his presence in the show - whether 10 seconds or 10 minutes - sets certain expectations and a certain framework within which the show will handle itself. And that framework is one that I can like, and probably still will, but know I won't like as much as one in which he weren't present. I've seen a lot of anime. It'll be a massive shock if Idolmaster bucks any trends there, and I know you know this too. Certainly neither of us knows exactly how every scene will play out but it'd be disingenuous to claim that one can't make a pretty robust high level prediction now.

Unless something utterly unexpected happens, the formula for this show is going to be: each girl gets a couple episodes to overcome some personal trial, assisted by Producer, and involving a lot of said girl blushing at Producer and indicating she has feelings for him, but then we'll move on to the next girl before it actually goes anywhere because wow there's a fuckton of girls and of course they're not going to establish a canon relationship the games don't. We already know it's a quasi-omnibus format so I'll be quite surprised if it does anything else.

Like I said, I can like a show that uses that formula but I'll be damned if I'm going to pretend I wasn't fervently hoping - hope the creators were clearly not oblivious to and obviously played to both before airing and within this episode - that it wasn't a different formula instead. And I know you understand this, but find it too tempting to take shots at "unreasonable otaku" when they express disappointment. Pretty sure it's not out of line for me to state the obvious here... so we can skip the usual song and dance this time. (Singing and dancing should be the girls' job anyway.)

And how exactly would the formula change with Ritsuko as the producer instead of Producer-san? It would be exactly the same except without less blushing. As you said you already know it's a quasi-omnibus format so what's the difference than? The only difference is that Ritsuko isn't the (main) producer and might actually get an arc to herself now and there will be blushing @ a male character.

You tell me how it would've been different.
