Default Princess Mononoke going OOP?

Judging from the various online retail listings listed below...the current Princess Mononoke release is going OOP. Could a re-release could be forthcoming later this year (or next year)? There were three DVD re-releases last year (in March): Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, and My Neighbor Totoro.

All I know is I would LOVE to own it on blu ray! I don't really buy anime on blu, with the exception of the Eva and Miyazaki movies. If it does get re-released though, I sure hope they change the cover!

This is not a bad thing as it should now get a proper release under Disney...?

I think if Disney wanted it they'd have it. It's probably too violent for them.

Well, I guess they could repackage it under their Touchstone label. Regardless, we probably wouldn't get a worthwhile re-release until after Ghibli does their own Blu-ray of it in Japan.

I doubt they'd handle it any differently than their other Ghibli properties so far... it's not significantly different in action/peril/violence than Nausicaa.
Yet another in need of rescue in R1, Grave of the Fireflies, might be a different matter though (I'd wager explicit death in a non-fantasy setting gives their marketing dept fits of spontaneous combustion.)

I have a feeling that this will be re-released as a BD at some point. Now who does it, I'm not so sure about that.

It's time to graduate from here. But there's still some business left.
The only thing better than anime is sports. Get hit hard and you got JACKED UP! Or else it's a C'mon Man!

Nah, odds are that they definitely will handle it differently--I mean, they did with the original theatre/DVD release. We all know Disney strives to be kid-friendly, and the increase in action/peril/violence in Princess Mononoke as opposed to Nausicaa(considerably more notable use of blood, decapitations, etc.) will no doubt make them handle it differently. Of course, that's assuming Disney wants to release it again.

Totally agreed with you about Grave of the Fireflies, btw.
