Default Due next spring

Yaraon has an image up stating the intent is to release the BD-Box and the new anime project next spring. I've re-hosted it in case of any technical issues.

Saki season 1 Blu-ray BOX is scheduled to be released on 3/7 (2012). Will update more soon.

*note: I believe saki was never aired in HD and rumored to be produced at SD as well. Most likely SD upscale.

From the Forest Plus link, Saki will be released on March 7th for 48,000 yen and contain all 25 episodes. It's a 5 disc set. No subtitles are listed on the Pony Canyon listing.

Bonus features:
An anime edition mahjong tile set
A special booklet
Newly drawn cover art.

We'll likely know more information about episodes counts/bonus features when a more detailed listing comes out.

Edit: This is a built-to-order BD-Box (likely due to the mahjong set), so they'll only ship out for orders. It may be tough to find after release.

Eh, yeah, ¥48000 + not including the existing QB subs = no buy. I like Saki, but don't feel like rewarding that sort of approach. I'm buying enough BD boxes already. May reconsider if the subs are included. But the price is significantly steeper than most of the two cour anime BD boxes I've bought (Natsume, Lucky Star, Lain, My-Otome, Shana, etc. I think only the KeyAni shows were more expensive). And it was mentioned to be an upscale from SD.

The KeyAni boxes were also published by Pony Canyon, so that's no surprise on pricing. I think the increased cost is due to the complete mahjong tile set. A similar version sold for over 10,000 yen when the show was airing, so that'd bring it down to the same price as Lucky Star, Toradora!, and Haruhi.

Yeah, I'll be passing too. Too many other bds I want to get, plus I actually already own the first 5 dvds so I think I'll pick up the remaining 4 second hand and be happy with that - I've been holding off until I found out more about this set. I was willing to upgrade if this set included the CR subtitles, but I guess not.

I would probably buy it if it included subtitles... It won't be the second series I'll buy without subs.

The price is a little high and I'm already swamped in boxsets to buy. I don't mind the subs since there are ways around that, but it's so much easier to watch when subs are included on the disc.

Does anyone know if the mah-jong set is going to be a full sized one or a mini-set? If full sized, that could be one large, hefty boxset. I'd be afraid to know what the shipping cost would be even though Amazon would probably still charge 2000 yen for it.

Considering the other sets they released were full-sized, I'd be shocked if this wasn't either. I imagine they'd state "mini mahjong tile set" in the description if they weren't going to make a full one.

Also, the official site's blog updated today saying that further bonus features are planned, but will be revealed at a later date.
