Default [US] Strike Witches (Season 2)

Oh Amazon.com...how you like to tease us with Strike Witches on Blu-ray. They have put up a pre-order LE listing for Season 2 with a MSRP of $69.98 and a supposed release date of "2/21/12." It's likely the original planned release date.

If I get it, I'll get the JP BDs.

Didn't they do this with S1 as well? So now we're getting S2 and no S1? D'oh!

The same happened with Darker than Black...

This is definitely one of those shows that, if I do like it, I'll pick up the US BDs since they are much cheaper (I have a stronger leaning towards importing current shows than older shows unless it's not licensed). Of course, if S1 is not released in the US at BD, I'll have to import the JP ones.

will probably one day buy the JP BD since it's more likely than not that the US version will get edited due to the Lil Marlene rights for both JP and US tracks. Well time will tell.

I wonder why they pulled S1, did Funi lose their license at the last minute? It's a bit dissapointing for those of us who don't speak Japanese. I really have no intention of buying the DVD.

Yes, it's nice Funi is streaming S1 in HD dubbed on Netflix, but I'd much rather watch it subbed/lossless on Blu.

If it helps any, the JP release for S1 was an upscale.

13:36:38 <bay|AB|SoTI> Q: i guess the accidental theme of this is that funimation is the industry... recently on amazon there was strike witches combo pack solicited.. and it got changed to dvd only... was it a rights issue.. or was it economy of sale
13:36:54 <bay|AB|SoTI> A; you definitely hit it, it was a materials delay...
13:37:12 <bay|AB|SoTI> we definitely think that strike witches should be released on blu (paraphrase)
13:37:19 <bay|AB|SoTI> it will be coming out later

So is it now that one gives up hope for S1 on BD? I've been holdin' off for a while now...
