NIS America to Release Natsume Yūjin-Chō Anime

NIS America has confirmed with ANN that the company will release the Natsume Yūjin-Chō television anime series on home video. Crunchyroll's press release announcing that it would stream the fourth season of Natsume's Book of Friends, Natsume Yūjin-Chō Shi, noted that NIS America would be "releasing a retail version at a later date." NIS America confirmed with ANN that it has the license to all four seasons of the anime, and it has not yet finalized in what format the series will be released.

The anime seasons and Yuki Midorikawa's original manga revolve around Natsume, a boy who has been able to see ghosts since he was little. Unfortunately, humans shun him, and there is not much fondness between him and ghosts either. One day, he inherits a Yūjin-Chō ("Book of Friends") from his grandmother. The book is actually full of contracts that his grandmother made to trap ghosts. As one ghost after another shows up, Natsume tries to release or help them — even while many of them seek vengeance on him.

Crunchyroll has streamed all three previous television anime seasons outside Japan. Viz Media published the tenth volume of the manga in North America in December.

Oh hey, how about that? No dub makes me a little sad, but it's one of my most wanted licenses, and probably one of the top 35 anime, and of course this will mean great packaging. Plus, they have all four seasons already! So yeah, I'll be getting this for sure. Hopefully Blu-ray gets announced.

I don't think season 1 was HD...

As the series got longer with each new season I thought the odds of ever getting this were dropping. Glad to see that we will get it after all.

I hope we do get HD where available.
