Default Fall '12 Check-up

Not all titles have been solicited, but it's interesting to take a look at which shows had an immediate solicitation boost to rank all volumes in the top 100. For fall, three series have done it.

Below each title is the highest ranking attained by each volume, e.g. v1 peak → v2 peak → v3 etc. Obviously only titles that are solicited all at once can do this.

To LOVE-ru Darkness (registered 2012-09-21)
Peak: 18 → 65 → 72 → 74 → 73 → 71

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken (registered 2012-10-02)
Peak: *7 → 22 → 24 → 29 → 30 → 31 → 33 → 31 → 32

Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! (registered 2012-10-04)
Peak: 18 → 30 → 33 → 34 → 37 → 35

Might have missed one, but not that I've noticed.

Of course, this means very little. Remember when AnoNatsu was all in the top ~20? But it only averaged 6k or so.

I'm also not yet convinced that this says much about Chuunibyou - the first episode just aired and it's KyoAni and the pre-release push has seemed unusually big. So an initial top 50 all-volume ranking was kind of a given. As for Jojo and Darkness, they haven't seen their first ep air yet but have a huge manga fanbase to draw on.

Most other solicited titles are well outside the top 1000 at the moment. Hidamari Sketch was solicited too recently to start being ranked yet, and is volume by volume anyway.

Of unsolicited titles, I guess Psycho Pass and Robono could get everything in the top 100 if they're solicited all at once.

So many updates, and so happy this was posted normally so I didn't have to pull everything from the wiki.
But man, no second week for Yuru Yuri♪♪. 1,139 BD threshold on a full list is evil. Oh well, there's always monthly lists. Just going to have to wait another 2.5 weeks or so for the data - the 21st, usually, maybe plus a few days for it to get to the wiki.

Summer update:
Hakuouki Reimeiroku v1 sells 1384/3536 for 4,920. A drop by half from previous volumes, not just v1s, of the first two seasons. Ouch. And I thought it was the best one so far...

Campione! v1 sells 2979/1208, total 4,187.

Arcana Famiglia v1 sells 1234/2228, total 3,462. Triple the stalker DVD estimate, and quadruple the DVD estimate.

KoiChoco v1 sells 2330/1007, total 3,337.

Nakaimo v1 sells 2063/747, total 2,810.

Hagure Yuusha v1 sells 1740/669, total 2,409.

Dakara H v1 sells 1,945 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Spring update:
Uchuu Kyoudai v1 sells 1,411 BD boxes, DVDs do not rank.

AKB0048 v4 sells 2931/905, total 3,836.

Tsuritama v4 sells 1854/1464, total 3,318.

QB Rebellion v4 sells 2290/1018, total 3,308.

Nazo no Kanojo v4 sells 2,359 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

NatsuKise v3 sells 1,983 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

KoreZom OTD v5, final volume, sells 1,970 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Final average: 2,821.

Tasogare v4 sells 1,742 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Sakamichi v3 sells 1,714 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Upotte!! v2 sells 1,284 BDs, DVDs do not rank. 2 more copies than v1.

KuroBas v3 adds 2305/3156, total 20,245.

Past seasons:
n/a

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Gundam SEED BD Box v3 added 1438, total 11,516.
03) ¥*873.9m (21,903 * ¥39,900) - Toradora!
04) ¥*723.7m (34,464 * ¥21,000) - Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED (4 parts: 11,457 + 11,491 + 11,516 + 1 unreleased)
05) ¥*456.7m (12,427 * ¥36,750) - Strike Witches (Two pressings: 7,011 + 5,416)

http://www27392u.sakura.ne.jp/wordpress/?p=146

Stalker's blog has added some kind of notice/warning regarding problems with the update. From what I can gather, Little Busters! wasn't being found when the Ranking Stalker system was querying Amazon, but I can't figure out what it's saying the consequences are. I guess just that it didn't update for a few hours and the admin had to add them manually?

Hi! Now that http://jbbs.livedoor.jp/music/3914/ is down, where do we get VHS and LD sales data? It'd be a shame if those lists were gone for a long time.

I last backed it up on 2012-08-09 (there might have been a couple posts after that), but some of that data is on this page. I don't have any extensive backups of all the old pre-DVD data, but there is some VHS/LD on there. Not sure if you were looking for some other page in particular.

2012 10/01~10/07 BD List
*1 (*4) -- 7,703 *7,703 *1 Tari Tari v2
*2 (*7) -- 3,685 *3,685 *1 Oda Nobuna no Yabou v2
*3 (11) -- 2,695 *2,695 *1 Amagami SS+ plus v7

*6 (31) *7 *,852 *6,164 *2 Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse v1
*7 (32) -- *,844 **,844 *1 Moyashimon Returns v2
*8 (35) 17 *,780 21,956 *3 Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon II v1

-- (46) *6 *,655 *7,256 *2 Accel World v3
-- (50) (*,542)

Hyouka almost 10k! Dog Days' 10k! Also I guess Kuroko is finally slowing down every so slightly.
And no v2 drop for Tari Tari or Oda Nobuna, so the event tickets had zero effect. Oda Nobuna even went up slightly.

Summer update:
Tari Tari v2 sells 7,703 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Oda Nobuna v2 sells 3685/780, total 4,465.

Moyashimon Returns v2 sells 844/733 for 1,577.

Horizon II v1 adds 780, total 21,956. Best third week of any volume, due to s1 v1 being out of stock and adding 4.4k in the next 3 weeks.

Dog Days' v1 adds 761/368, total 10,325. Just barely made it thanks to a low DVD threshold, yay.

Total Eclipse v1 adds 852 BDs, total 7,274.

Hakuouki Reimeiroku v1 adds 427 DVDs, total 5,347.

Arcana Famiglia v1 adds 300 DVDs, total 3,762.

Spring update:
Acchi Kocchi v5 sells 1422/748, total 2,170.

Fate/Zero part II adds 670, total 45,523. Slowing down a fair bit - it is out of stock or something? Only 11% down on part I's total though.

KuroBas v3 adds 558 DVDs, total 20,803.

Hyouka v4 adds 1359/349, total 9,881. Best total yet, and best second week yet. If we get a third week for this volume too (v1 and v3 had one), we'll be over 10k... what kind of show hits 10k for the first time on v4? And when is this actually going to start dropping? No signs of it so far.

Accel World v3 adds 655 BDs, total 8,734.

Nyaruko-san v4 adds 749 BDs, total 6,714.

Past seasons:
Amagami SS+ v7, final volume, sells 2695/751, total 3,446. Final average: 4,106.

InuBoku v7, final volume, adds 533 DVDs, total 8,582. Final average: 10,622.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Haganai OVA adds 697BDs, total 12,245.

HidaSketch Fandisc adds 711, total 5,842.

No new v1s next week. Week after that, just Natsuyuki Rendezvous.

What's the average for Hyouka so far?

(How absolutely awesome would be if this could keep increasing a bit each volume and actually averaging 10k?)

Vol. 1: 8,339/1,116 | 9,455 (3 weeks)
Vol. 2: 8,714/1,096 | 9,810 (2 weeks + monthly)
Vol. 3: 8,673/1,112 | 9,785 (3 weeks)
Vol. 4: 8,441/1,440 | 9,881 (2 weeks)
Average: 9,733

It has to drop eventually, with the show over (gradually removing it from fandom's consciousness), Chuunibyou starting (possibly peeling off some KyoAni fans), and the effects of a 11-volume release (Kadokawa Marathon fatigue has to kick in at some point).

But at the current rate, a 9k average is not out of the question, which would be absolutely fantastic for an 11 volume series.

Default Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica: Hajimari no Monogatari

http://boxofficemojo.com/intl/japan/...y=local&p=.htm
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Movie 1: Hajimari no Monogatari opening weekend gross is ¥139,753,806.

Update 2012-10-11
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-12339.html
Current total as of the 9th (Tuesday) is now just over ¥200,000,000.

Update 2012-10-16
http://boxofficemojo.com/intl/japan/...y=local&p=.htm
Current total is now ¥311,366,865 according to Box Office Mojo. For some strange reason, it simply doesn't list the second movie at all even though we know it was #1 for the weekend...

Update 2012-10-24
http://boxofficemojo.com/intl/japan/...y=local&p=.htm
Current total is now ¥402,440,363 after three weeks according to Box Office Mojo. Goddamnit Mojo, what do you have against listing the second movie? Thre's obviously something wrong with their ranking data.

Update 2012-11-08
http://boxofficemojo.com/intl/japan/...y=local&p=.htm
Current total is now ¥453,238,274 after five weeks according to Box Office Mojo. They still will not list the second movie, so our data for that is basically worthless. The total for this doesn't make any sense either - their week 3 and 4 totals were identical and their week 5 total doesn't seem to equal the individual 4th and 5th week data but whatever... I think this should be higher and the second movie should be well above 400m by now.

Update 2012-11-12
http://0taku.livedoor.biz/archives/4333157.html
Here we go, real totals, not the weird incomplete data from Mojo. First movie is now up to ¥520,000,000.
