Also, never thought the BD box wouldn't last longer in Japan than here. Rightstuf still has it despite many like myself thinking it would sell out before release.
I sure would be curious to know how many copies TRSI got.
According to Mike Toole on ANN, The Garden of Sinners had 800 copies here, so going off that, it was probably more or less, or around the same number of copies.

Dunno. For some reason, all future volumes of Nisemonogatari and Persona 4 disappeared from Amazon JP, so that's odd. No idea if something is going on at Aniplex or not. A random sampling of their other shows didn't show anything similar.
Why would this happen to their biggest sellers? Nisemonogatari is already going to probably beat Madoka Magica in week 1 sales, and Persona 4 is one of the biggest success stories they had in 2011.

Well the first episode was pretty damn good, and that's probably all what faithful fans need to push them into early preorders. (and that 4koma adaptation OVA thing)

Expected, just a matter if they can hook in new viewers as well like Horizon did. Though the novel fanbase for this is probably double of Horizon's prior to anime. And its sister series in Sword Art Online is even bigger still.. safe to say A-1 have another 10k+ hit on their hands.

Medaka's volumes are up on the Amazon and the first one is already climbing quite high:
***,*70位 ★(***,**0pt) [*,***予約] 2012年07月25日 めだかボックス 第1巻 [Blu-ray]
And for some reason they're releasing it quite late, almost like SHAFT with the Nisemonogatari.

I think I just read on Yaraon people on 2ch are insisting this will bomb and that the stalker doesn't count cancellations. The Stalker not counting cancellations is true, but I wonder what is making them think that this series would bomb (maybe what I was using to translate the text was translating it poorly and it came off as such). Granted when they said that Medaka BD1 was at 76, now it's at 38, and the rest of the volumes are all sitting at 112 - 116.

To me it sounds like it's doing pretty good, not great, it's not a hit, but it's still pretty good none-the-less.

The ranking of any popular property's anime adaptation should pretty much be ignored for the first week. If it maintains it after that, it could be the real deal. Still, it is interesting to see what properties get the initial solicitation bump and which don't. Even if those that don't (Inu x Boku SS) can still dominate in the end.

As cancellations, right, there's no way to count them. If everyone is cancelling their Medaka orders (doubt it) then presumably there won't be a lot of people placing future orders either, which would be reflected in lower rankings going forward and lower accumulated points in the end.

Oh, so there's Fate. Still slightly short of 50k.
Very low thresholds get some V1s another week.

Winter update:
Amagami SS+ v1 sells 3558/962 for 4,520, which is lower than the lowest volume of season one, but not terrible.

Danshi Koukousei v1 starts at 1702/1685 for 3,387, almost exactly split between BD and DVD.

Kill Me Baby v2 does 671 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

InuBoku v1 another 404/467, total 14,690. Awesome.

HS DxD v1 adds 490 BDs, total 10,547.

AnoNatsu v1 adds 340 BDs, total 7,694. Nice that it gets a third week, barely.

Symphogear v1 adds 644 BDs and tops 5k with 5,098.

Another v1 adds 381 BDs, total 2,573.

Fall update:
Fate/Zero adds 415 in its 5th week, which means in weeks 3-4 it added 1750 and its total is now 49,788. Next week should hit 50k if it ranks.

Persona 4 v5 adds 648 BDs, gaining a bit more ground to 27,062. Only 4.25% down on v4 now.

Horizon v4 430, total still just short of 20k with 19,856.

Past seasons:
Idolmaster v6 standalone adds 619 BDs, total 7,806 or 25,565 with G4U. Still 8.46% down on v5 combined and 28.3% down on v5 standalone.

Gintama' v9 adds 425 keeping every volume above 11k at 11,580.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Gundam Seed BD Box v1 adds 358, total 11,087.

10) ¥*309.8m (*9,220 * ¥33,600) - Working!!
11) ¥*232.8m (11,087 * ¥21,000) - Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED (4 parts: 11,087 + 3 unreleased)
12) ¥*230.1m (*5,768 * ¥39,900) - Fate/Stay Night

The only Vol. 1 next week is the DVD version of PapaKiki. I guess it could rank if next week is this slow, which it looks like it may be. There are virtually no new releases coming besides Mouretsu (BD v2, DVD v2-3) and PapaKiki (BD v2, DVD v1).

Default Re: 2012 04/02~04/08 Anime 30/10 List

Just a comment on the winter season so far: the average sales are unusually decent. Even the sub-Manabi-line shows are over 2k except for KMB. We have three over 10k (if only barely for two), and 6 over 4k.

14,286 *3 Inu x Boku SS [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/21
10,547 *3 High School DxD [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/21
10,345 *2 Natsume Yuujin-chou Shi [DVD+BD]: 2012/02/22
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - 10,000 Line - - - - - - - - - - - - -
*7,354 *2 Ano Natsu de Matteru [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/23 [●]
*5,098 *2 Senki Zesshou Symphogear [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/28
*4,973 *2 Brave10 [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/21
*4,588 *2 Mouretsu Pirates [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/07 [●]
*4,520 *1 Amagami SS+ plus [DVD+BD]: 2012/04/04
*4,012 *2 Papa no Iu Koto wo Kikinasai! [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/07 [●]
*3,489/*3,089 *1 Rinne no Lagrange [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/23
*3,387 *1 Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou [DVD+BD]: 2012/04/03
*3,103/*2,353 *1 Tantei Opera Milky Holmes 2 [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/21
- - - - - - - - - - - Manabi Line (2,899) - - - - - - - - - - -
*2,192 *1 Another [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/30 [●]
*2,165/*1,525 *1 Zero no Tsukaima Final [DVD+BD]: 2012/02/22 [Vol. 2 Data]
**,686 *1 Kill Me Baby [DVD+BD]: 2012/03/07 [●]

On the other hand, at least two of the remainder will be total duds - Recorder and Therma Romae. The last TeniPri TV series did about 3k so I guess this will be similar. Aquarion should be a 5-6k show, as will BRS, and of course Nise is Nise.

**,*** ** Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama [DVD+BD]: 2012/04/20
**,*** ** Recorder to Randoseru [DVD+BD]: 2012/04/20
**,*** ** Therma Romae [DVD+BD]: 2012/04/20
**,*** ** Nisemonogatari [DVD+BD]: 2012/04/25
**,*** ** Aquarion EVOL [DVD+BD]: 2012/04/25
**,*** ** Black Rock Shooter [DVD+BD]: 2012/06/22

Back on the first list... I wonder if Mouretsu v1 will rank next week. it's still out of stock everywhere, but Amazon restocks on the 13th, and next week covers up to the 15th, plus thresholds should be really low and it's been so highly ranked for so long now. v2 has accumulated about 6k stalker points... I hope that's accurate, or even undercounting. But I still can't wrap my head around the bizarre performance of v1 on Amazon relative to its not all that amazing real sales. Something must be weird about how Amazon calculates its ranking.
