If you really like 3DCG, I guess. Personally as soon as I saw the trailers I knew I'd never be able to watch it - I hate 3DCG in anime like nobody's business. So while I'd been refraining from saying so, I have to agree with Buster that I didn't particularly want it to do all that well because I was so disappointed with the visual choices made. I would have watched it if it were done with proper animation, though hearing that the story was not presented well anyway means I probably wouldn't have liked it regardless.

It's not very good for a movie in general, but without knowing what kind of costs they needed to recoup it's impossible to guess at whether they're breaking even or not. Maybe they are, all other things considered, but honestly, no idea.
I'm kind of glad it's not doing very well. Half-assed animation deserves half-assed sales. Even the 2D stuff isn't that great, and the gore still isn't on the level of the manga. Although at least they added full-frontal nudity, unlike the TV series. But it's kinda pointless since Caska looks like she was drawn by a 15 year old dojinshi artist in MS Paint.
Oh well, because of this and the 3DCG, I don't want to watch it at all. It's now a sure pass.

-- (44) -- **,860 **,860 *1 Brave10 v3
-- (50) 22 **,620 55,009 *5 Nisemonogatari v1

Another big Thursday. Nise hangs on again, taking both first and last this week.

Spring update:
KoreZom 2 v1 sells 2192/569 for 2,761. Only 5 BDs less than s1 v1 wk1, but only half as many DVDs.

Winter update:
Nisemonogatari v2 sells 43263/7515 for 50,778. Now see, this is weird. DVDs went up, while BDs went down 14%. It's really tempting to point out that only the DVD was orderable from Amazon due to the Aniplex dispute.
v1 adds 620 BDs in week 5, total 63,600.

Rinne v3 sells 2,481 BDs, slightly up from v2, but DVDs do not rank.

Brave10 v3 sells 860/1542 for 2,402.

Zero no Tsukaima F v4 sells 1525/655 for 2,180.

Another v3 sells 1,953 BDs, slightly up from v2, but DVDs do not rank.

Milky Holmes 2 v3 sells 1,370, DVDs do not rank.

Fall update:
Maken-ki v6, final volume, sells 1915/827 for 2,742. Final average, 3,024.

Mashiro-iro v5 sells 1956/726 for 2,682.

Chihayafuru v6 sells 1922/619 for 2,541.

Last Exile Fam v5 sells 2,452 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Mirai Nikki v6 sells 1,597 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Gundam AGE v4 sells 1,565 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Past seasons:
Nichijou v12 sells 1711/557 for 2,268. One to go, nearly out of its misery.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Macross BD Box sells 2,880.
24) ¥*149.3m (*5,689 * ¥26,250) - Kamichu!
25) ¥*136.1m (*2,880 * ¥47,250) - Choujikuu Yousai Macross
26) ¥*134.9m (*4,942 * ¥27,300) - Serial Experiments Lain

Should not the underline part be deleted?

I use the same wording per release for both original and Thursday posts so I can just copy/paste between them. I know only v1 was in the Thursday add-on, but this way you don't have to check two posts to see what Nisemonogatari as a whole did this week.

Though I guess the "see below for Persona" part is weird out of context, yes.

Doesn't this assume that all of the sales were from the LE? While I assume most bought it, there was a bit more bitching about the price than usual for this release, so some people might have actually bought the less-expensive RE (not me, though).

edit: Oh wait, NM. The original 2ch post specifies that the sales are for the Complete Edition, which refers to the LE and not the RE (which is just called Choujikuu Yousai Macross Blu-ray Box).

Yep, Oricon does specify the version, I just don't include that in my charts unless it's an RE, or unless both RE and LE rank, since 99% of the time it's going to be LE. So I assume some number of REs sold as well, but less than 620 if so.

Wonder if we'll ever see the Oricon BD 51-100 list get posted. That one seems to be much more closely guarded, as I've never ever seen that data posted anywhere for a given week.

...Though I do kind of shudder to think of how much longer the posts would take than they already do if twice as many BDs needed to be added each week.

Anyone knows what happened with Zetman's first volume? It just flew away to the 26th place out of sudden!
upd. Oh, it looks like they've added tickets for some sort of event.
