I really enjoyed the first episode. The plot moved along quickly and had a few surprises, there was foreshadowing of some tragedy 2 years down the track in the first scene which we will find out more about later, and the music was pretty good (I'm always impressed by the intensity of Nana Mizuki's singing voice). I chuckled a little when Red Idol ran into battle singing her own theme song, but given the series seems to be using the 'music versus aliens' meme and the aliens are called 'Noise' it seemed fitting. I hope there's more of Red at some point since she was very cool. I wish I could watch the next episode now which is the hallmark of a good series.

Episode 1:

- Well someone is dead. Two years before the show starts, apparently.
- Aww, it's Ao-chan's character. You can't kill Ao-chan's character.
- Hibiki and Miku, Tsubasa and Kanade.
- Sawashiro Miyukiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!

- Other than the unnatural way that the girls glide over the floor, and the weird audience shots, the concert scene was impressive. Well, I guess I basically just mean the animation for Tsubasa and Kanade.
- Just realized who Hibiki reminds me of: Yuu from Black Rock Shooter.
- And he dying starts.
- Man, that is one incredibly retro design.
- She has to keep singing while fighting?
- Ergh... the comic book font attack names (or whatever thats supposed to be) is terribly jarring. Don't like that at all.
- Ah, so Hibiki survives. But Kanade sure doesn't seem to. Of course, if you have to kill one of your leads, it's going to be Kanade, not Tsubasa. You can't kill Mizuki Nana's character - after all, every time she opens her mouth you have another 80,000+ CD single to sell!

- If it's back to present day, why is Miku with Hibiki? Is present day somewhere between the two? Or is Hibiki going to "die" again and this time be separated from Miku?
- Yeah this is definitely after Hibiki's injury. So the opening scene has to be later than this.
- Annnnnnd I guess this could be where it happens. Noise are attacking again.
- Uhhhhh Hibiki go crazy.

Pretty good. But bah, two groups and neither has acceptable subtitles (not that I expected any better with the groups in question). I'll decide later if I'm still going to watch this anyway. Undecided at the moment.

Holy shit, that was awesome.

Lesbian idol singers that fight monsters by night? Starring Yuuki Aoi and Mizuki Nana? With some (lesbian) Iguchi Yuka on the side? So fucking sold.

Hibiki is a delight, as she should be being voiced by Yuuki Aoi. She reminds me most of Yuuki's Oshiroi Hana from last season, in terms of the kind of voice and general demeanor of the character.

My only disappointment is that Shikata Akiko and/or Shimotsuki Haruka were not involved with the music. But since this is a music oriented show starring Mizuki Nana, that was probably never really an option.

Goddammit, I was going to try really hard to only import one show this season, but unless this show nosedives at some point, that's going to be basically impossible.

This is probably the closest we'll ever get to Nana-chan singing Hymmnos, and at times it really does sound like she is. The song during Tsubasa's solo fight especially.

Oh geez, I completely missed the Hibiki/Nana part. I knew I had heard "Noise" as a villain recently, but I was too engrossed in the show to bother trying to remember where.

On a somewhat related note, has it been confirmed yet that Yuuki Aoi is starring in the next Precure series?

That one had a little bit of a hymnos feel to it, but I didn't feel any resemblance to hymnos in the rest.

But the show is starring Yuuki Aoi and really letting her shine with it, so I'll forgive the shameful oversight.

Sadly, that turned out to be untrue, though the actual cast is pretty good.

The concert scene seemed like something from Macross Frontier. It'll be interesting to see how Yuuki Aoi handles being the lead of this type of show. Singing is not where her seiyuu strengths lie.

But we do get Fuken Misato, Inoue Marina, and Ika Musume, so I guess its okay.
