But their anime to games ratio is about 50-50 now, if not 60-40 or whatever in favor of anime. They're still a video game company but they don't make their own games. They have to depend on either their parent company or their other partners like Gust, Compile Heart, etc to make games they can localize.

I wasn't having a go at NIS America at all, it was aimed at Sentai.

And yeah, sorry for going off-topic.

Hanasaku Iroha would be an auto double dip for me if NISA licenses it. And that even if I have the JP BDs with 4 artboxes already.

I hope that Sentai uses this cover art. It's a shame that this is not getting out on BD.

It's time to graduate from here. But there's still some business left.
The only thing better than anime is sports. Get hit hard and you got JACKED UP! Or else it's a C'mon Man!

Yeah, as much as its hurts to not see a lot of these recent titles on Blu-ray, I've grinned and bared it on a few, since i was just happy to have the shows licensed here already.
THIS show however, i really enjoyed the brightness and the overall color pallette, and not having it on Blu-ray is REALLY gonna hurt. There's still time of course, so you never know. I'll eb keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm still baffled myself. Out of all the stuff they've recently licensed, this should be one of their "AAA"-titles which again should equal a Blu-ray release.

Sentai is due some credit, but I really wish they would do more for at least some of their releases that deserves it. Some type of limited BD release, whatever. Booklet/artbook or anything for that matter.

They will get my money for:

Ano Natsu de Matteru (unless I begin collecting the JP BD's, which I doubt because of no box)
Jinrui Wa Suitai Shimashita
Natsuyuki Rendezvous
Mouretsu Pirates
Hakuoki
Hakuoki Reimeiroku (depending on how good Hakuoki is)

I dont think it's odd this is sub only... this show is strictly romance drama. no big explosions or fighting or action... nor any real fan service like some of the other boob and ass shows that get the BD treatment. Maybe if the stream numbers are good, it'll get boosted to BD.

Sub only is fine, I didn't even mention that in my post. I never watch dubs anyway. I was thinking more about packaging and Blu-ray. The latter should kinda be the norm now. Weshouldn't have to be excited and thrilled whenever a show gets a BD release, it should be weird whenever a show doesn't get one.

I guess you meant DVD only though, but there's no reason why boobs and ass should be in Blu-ray while animes with the scenery, detail and just plain brilliant visuals (which is the case in most, if not all, of the shows I listed) is getting DVD only. I know Mouretsu Pirates is getting a BD release and probably some of the others aswell, but Ano Natsu should really be in Blu-ray format.

To be fair, I guess I'd accept DVD only with proper packacing, not just a regular DVD case with 3 discs which is the Sentai standard.

I know it's all about costs and business and all that, but Sentai (and other companies) should know that some people are willing to pay for extra stuff. MRSP'ing Clannad at $89.90 is just silly for a release like that. They could do signup lists for all I care. Sign up on a list for a special edition or whatever, note what you're willing to pay and let Sentai find a middle ground and they can do something for the fans that actually wants to pay for superior packaging, physical extras, BD, whatever.

Sorry for ranting

Well for Sentai, sub only is dvd only. If they don't feel it warrants a dub then it wont get a BD release. BD = dubs for Sentai right now.

As for sales... statics show that consumers (folks who spend $) are mainly adult males. Their tastes tend to be for action/adventure and well fanservice (ie sex sells). Bodacious Pirates is an action/adventure show about Marika and her journey.

As for Clannad... Key shows have a solid fan following. Not just here but abroad as well, and I recall the funding for the dubs was shared by other regions outside NA. Least that is what I heard when they went back and dubbed it after the sub only release. The numbers on streaming was also solid.

I am a huge Please fan so I would buy a BD release of WitS. However I am not surprised it is sub only, since this is strictly a romance drama show. If NISA had gotten the license, sure it would of been a BD release but they only do sub shows. For instance, Maijikoi is getting a dub, hence a BD release and while it is a romance comedy show, it also has lots of fanservice... lots of skin.

I'm not into owning a show just to own it if it's not released in a format and presentation I don't approve of, so barebones DVD-only just doesn't work for me, even if I like a show. I'd rather import.

It's looking like we may see Sentai Filmworks solicit this release soon (maybe as soon as December).

It's coming to DVD in January. Subtitled Edition only.
So Madman is planning to release their set in January (if it sticks). Does that equate to a Sentai Filmworks release in the same month as well?
