Default Tamako Market, new Kyoto Animation project (TV, Winter '13)

http://tamakomarket.com/
http://0taku.livedoor.biz/archives/4344614.html

Holy shit!

Here I am thinking the winter lineup is probably locked in and not only is something left, but it's Kyoto fuckin' Animation. So they won't be idle in the Winter after all!

There's no Japanese Wikipedia page for たまこまーけっと and searching "Tamako Market" gives me nothing, so I have to assume this is the first original series since Munto/SoraAge. Granted, they're great at putting their mark on things they adapt (Chuunibyou for an obvious example) but by a strict definition, this is their only other original. Unless the source material is just so obscure I can't find anything on it. [Edit: Yeah it's original.]

AND IT'S DIRECTED BY K-ON!'S YAMADA NAOKO! This is the first time she's directed for them outside of K-ON!. Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod, finally.

Supervisor is Naoko Yamada, Series composer is Reiko Yoshida, and the Character Designer is Yukiko Horiguchi. This is a true original work from KyoAni. No LN adaptation. Copyright lists "Kyoto Animation/Usgaiyama Shopping District"

The lead girl looks so sweet, but that's to be expected with this staff involved. Definitely going to be quite curious to watch this.

Awesome, love that it's an original work. Instant import candidate for the winter season. :D

Whoa, not only is Kyoto doing another TV series for the fourth cour in a row, but it's their first completely original TV series? K-ON! is possibly my least favorite KyoAni work, so I'm not too excited to see that this will be directed by someone only known for that, but this definitely has my interest.

Talk about awesome news! This is an instant import for me.

Same.

Does this mean KyoAni has more workers now? they used to be pretty small.

Probably somewhat bigger, though this isn't their longest streak on TV. The most they did before was 6 cour of TV in a row, from Fall '06 to Winter '08 inclusive, with three two-cour shows in a row.

2013 Wi: Tamako Market

I imagine they were fairly busy from Fall '08 to Summer '10, with a lot of the Fall '09-Winter '10 gap spent on Shoushitsu. Although included in here are a short show (SoraAge), recap-like film (SoraAge Movie), and short-episode ONA (Haruhi-chan/Churuya), so it's not like they had five full productions in the span of two seasons.

Their current streak is decent but not unprecedented. If Tamako is two cour or they announce a Spring show then it'll officially be the second longest.
