No dub, no buy.

As much as I like Madoka, choosing to dub something niche like that over something mainstream like Blue Exorcist is just fail on Aniplex's part.

Yeah I agree, it's very stupid for a company to not dub a series which hasn't even finished it's Japanese DVD/BD release while the other, by the time it's released, would of finished it months ago.

I mean, what crazy person runs that company? And they thought we cared about the language in which this show was created in hahahaha what fools. That's why Kara no Kyoukai bombed and this will bomb too! Durr hurr i smert.

Not to mention if Aniplex continues to sell only online, I could easily see Madoka outselling Blue Exorcist. Blue Exorcist didn't exactly rock the fansub/streaming scene compared to other shonen of the last few years which could be considered "mainstream" and it not being available in stores means less buying from the more casual anime fans. Compare to Madoka which was a big hit on the fansub scene and easily the most talked-about Spring 2011 show. Just because one is shonen and the other is a "niche" genre doesn't mean one can automatically conclude the former will outperform the latter. For example, Spice and Wolf was a solid seller for FUNimation and the second season was grabbed swiftly, whereas D. Gray-man has still not had its second half licensed.

No dub. No Blu-ray. Low episode count. Not the best price considering the episode count (actually it's pretty damn good considering who this is, but I'm not about to let that fact confuse my complaining). It's all available for free online, legally. In HD (okay, I guess technically I'm paying for that). Not one of my favorites. This release has all the indications of something I wouldn't buy.

But nice packaging, extras, physical extras, the overall quality I know to expect from Aniplex of America, and their admirable dedication to the series since before it started... somehow those have managed to make up for all that in my mind enough that I just ordered both of these volumes. Dammit.

At least I'm not buying Oreimo. Yet. Oh please don't buy Oreimo, me.
