Bakemonogatari coming on DVD and Blu Ray from MVM

Koyomi Araragi may have survived a vampire attack, but life in high school is about to get a whole lot weirder for our young everyman...

Who knew that so many supernatural problems were just waiting around the corner for Koyomi? Not content with briefly turning him into a vampire, fate seems to have thrown the young man a massive curveball, and once he's helped his conservative classmate Hitagi, it's just one problem after another.

Bakemonogatari (or Ghostory) is a supernatural adventure which started out as a collaboration between Japanese writer Nisio Isan and Taiwanese illustrator Vofan. Shaft adapted the seres for broadcast in 2009, following up with Nisemonogatari in 2012, and the series has sold over 1 milliion DVD's and Blu Rays worldwide.

We're very happy to tell you that MVM have acquired the rights to both series and will be looking to release on DVD and Blu Ray around September 2013.

- Are you getting the Blu-ray masters for Bake/Nisemonogatari from Aniplex. Or has Hanabee changed it's mind about a DVD only release?

- So far as I'm aware the masters are coming from Aniplex. DVD and Blu Ray content will be identical.

- Too early to say at the moment, the ink is still drying. So far as I'm aware, if it's on the US release, it'll be on ours.

My Aniplex copies are still sealed, and if Nise from Hanabee contains the commentaries they're likely to stay that way.

The DVDs should have em... but they may not be able to get em for the BD. Wait and see... I refuse to buy the US version since, to me, 1 3rd of the show is missing without the commentary.

edit: maybe if the Nise BD is released far enough in the future that they will be allowed to include em.... maybe a 2014 release.

We were unfortunately unable to have the audio commentary for Nisemonogatari as we were bound within the release that Aniplex US had put out which did not include the character commentary either.
