I have no doubt it'll lose them sales. Hell, the only 11+ volume 2-cour show to average even 8k in the last 4 years Durarara!!.

Oh fuck you Kadokawa.
My thoughts exactly. This show will either need to be amazing or Eru has to be a goddess that I'd want to buy it.

I haven't bought anything longer than 9 volumes, but even that feels like it takes an eternity to complete. I'm glad Kadokawa didn't pull this with Steins;Gate.

At least it's only 7000 yen, before discount, for 2-episodes. Cheap! LOL.

I have no doubt I'll buy it anyway, I bought fucking Nichijou after all, but I am so fucking sick of Kadokawa. I wish KyoAni could just stop working with them entirely outside of Haruhi (and who knows if we'll see more of that anyway).

Yep. Glad I already just wrote off this series, assuming Kadokawa was going to go for ass-rape prices. Especially since I have enough shows to decide among already.) That puts the MSRP (include tax) at 80,850. The most expensive series I've bought was Hanasaku Iroha at 72,135 (Idolm@ster is 72,660). Hyouka is 8,000 yen more and has 4-5 fewer episodes!

On the other hand, the per episode price is exactly the same as OreImo, Haganai, Queen's Blade: Rebellion, Dog Days, Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, and Medaka Box. Well, assuming its 22 episodes. I'm a little confused on the length, as I saw 21 mentioned but its 11 equally priced volumes. It is, however, 315 yen cheaper than Another, another Kadokawa title (again, assuming 22 episodes).

Strangely, the CM and KyoAni's site list the price without tax. The price with tax is 7,350, so 35 yen more. We were told 21 episodes by tvk, but with all 11 volumes priced the same, we will get 22 episodes, even if the final one is BD/DVD only.

Bonus ep 22 is guaranteed. But yeah this is exactly the same release model as Nichijou: 2 cour, 2 eps a disc, ¥7350 MSRP. Nichijou is just 4 eps longer, hence two discs longer. Both both have OADs, so ugh, I'll probably end up getting that too and paying the Amazon ¥1000 book penalty on top of it.

I'm putting sales expectations for this show at 5k average now unless this totally takes Spring by storm. This release model just does not create high sales anymore, and hasn't for half a decade or more.

Er, no, I added the tax back in and I was talking about the per episode price. Or rather, I used the Amazon.jp pre-discount price for my calculations. Hyouka is 7350 per volume, 3675 per episode. Another is 7980 per volume, 3990 per episode. A per episode price difference of 315 yen.

11 discs? Nope, not happening. Maybe once they're all out, if I liked the show - assuming I even remember it by that time! - and if there is still no R1 release on the horizon I might come back and pick it up. Buying the monthly releases though would just be torture so it will have to absolutely blow me away for me to even consider it.

Well, that just leaves Haiyore! Nyaruko-san under consideration.
