Default Episode 23-24 Final

#23

It's certainly been a while since the previous episodes.
Ao, Fleur and Elena fighting the Truth.
It sure was an intense fight.
Naru is still delusional about the new wold.
Only two options available Scub or Secrets.
Ao didn't like fighting Naru one bit.
Eureka, Ao & Renton reunion was nice ^^

#24 Final

Ao's dad finally made an appearance.
So Scub are the invaders and Secrets are the protectors of the planet.
Finally some answers are given.
Truth the archetype, that was an interesting turn of events.
Guess every world has something different in it.
The past, present and future really are all messed up when it comes to Quartz.
All is well that ends well and this time Ao made it well.

Default Re: Episode 23-24 Final

First, Ao has his battle with Truth, and in using the quartz gun to blast Truth he changes reality as the secret behind the quartz is fully explained. Then he meets his father Renton for the first time ever where he is about to do something extremely reckless as there is only one more chance to change reality. Ao wants to use it to rescue Eureka while Renton wants to wipe out the existence of the scubs that he once tried so hard to protect. It turns out that Truth has become a part of the Nirvash, and now Renton returns to Earth two years later, where he is a complete stranger once again.

That was a pretty weak ending as all that really happened when all is said and done is that Renton and Eureka are back to the time and place when they were happy and that Ao is starting all over again living in a different reality where nobody knows who he is. Renton is not exactly the person I expected him to be, and having this come at the time it happened was just too much. It could have been done better, but given what this show is trying to be, I guess that it is alright. But in these episode, Fleur and Elena were irrelevant for the most part. There are just too many loose ends that were left such as the whereabouts of Team Goldilocks, Naru, and the alternative reality Generation Bleu.

Overall, this series started out fast out the door, but once it got into the monster-of-the-week type of thing up to the halfway point, that is when the show starts to lose it. It recovers during the second half, but it doesn't quite regain its swagger that it had at the start. Then there is the ending where it focuses on Renton and Eureka, who rarely show up in this season and all of the sudden, something that was mostly an afterthought becomes the focal point. With the way this show ended, it certainly opens the door for a second season, which would be an opportunity to improve things since it seems like these episodes were crafted with that in mind. This show is really confusing once all the alternative realities and everything else come into play, and that long delay made things worse as I had forgotten some of the key details of this show that surface in these episodes. This show got the triple-whammy of bad luck as it was one of the last shows to begin airing in the spring, then it got delayed a week for soccer, and two more for the Olympics, and thus only 22 episodes could be aired and the last two came way later. It certainly didn't help that Funi waited so long after these episodes were aired to make them available. But at the very least it was a show that I could get into even if it isn't as good as its predecessor and the concept of alternative realities was pretty good.

It's time to graduate from here. But there's still some business left.
The only thing better than anime is sports. Get hit hard and you got JACKED UP! Or else it's a C'mon Man!

Default Just finished this

After finishing this, I have to say this is one sequel gone terribly wrong. This is how NOT to make a sequel to a beloved anime.
Other than Eureka and Renton whose roles ultimately were disappointing, the show doesn't even mention the other members of the original cast. Why make a sequel if you can't even connect it properly with the original?
The heart of the original series was the romance. Here, the male lead is too young and he acts too much like a typical shounen male lead (Infinite Stratos etc). Every time the show drops hints that it is leading into a satisfying romance with one of the 3 females leads, it ultimately ends up going nowhere.
By the end of the series, I still have no idea of the motives of more than half the cast or what they were doing in the series. The politics and the switching of alliances in the series was never developed effectively.
Another problem is this. Basically the dialogue of every episode almost goes like this:
"......scub coral....."
"......secret..........."
Thats' basically what most of the conversation seems to revolve around. Terrible script writers.

This is a disappointing sequel.
