Episode 1:

...Somehow, somehow, I think this show manages to come up with a premise even more ridiculous than, and take it as seriously as, Toshokan Sensou. >_>

I almost wanted to dislike this show because the horrendous CG is going to be a huge, huge, huge, huge problem (that concert scene was... ugh), but unfortunately the episode was fucking spectacular. So what the fuck do I do now? Damnit. Hopefully mecha are minimal and dancing CG people even moreso, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I also thought the dancing CG was ugly, and I'm pretty tolerant of CG. Switching from traditional animation to CG constantly for the same performance is just lazy, I'd accept it more if the dance was all CG, though I would of preferred it as all traditional animation.

I do enjoy the Idolmaster game dances, so it's not going to be much of a problem for me in the long run, but I hope they do the traditional animation to CG transitions a bit better from episode 2 onwards.

I see them as quite different things. 3DCG is not itself a problem. I used to (and occasionally still do) play video games after all. And I own and loved Idolmaster 2, and the "3D" Vocaloid concerts are among the most amazing things I've ever experienced, and I love MikuMiku Dance videos, etc. But it's fundamentally another matter for me when it's mixed into animation.

I'd like to think this episode had more than most will, but it's probably the exact opposite. Most of this episode didn't involve the concerts and mecha I expect to be more prominent going forward.

Default Episode 2

Now Chieri shows up. It turns out she was someone they only knew for a short period of time while she was visiting Lancaster for the summer. And she's become a very downer of a person.

Between the OP and the events in this episode, particularly the Kirara stuff at the end, its looking like Chieri and Nagisa are the main characters/co-leads.

We also get to meet the other girls that will eventually join AKB0048: Makoto, Suzuko and Sonata. Sonata is easily the most fun and my favorite of the three, but Suzuko is a great deadpan girl. Makoto's freaking out was amusing the first time or two, but it started to get a little annoying as the episode went on.

Yuuko is setting off my gaydar. She gave Chieri AND Nagisa the "Your virginity is MINE" look.

The brief scene with the Miko-like woman and the, uh, thing in the first episode suggested there might be some darker purpose behind the AKB group. This episode all but confirms it. That scene did nothing to suggest that the Great One or whatever is a benevolent being.

The ED is really nice, both visually and musically. The OP is pretty good too.

And the show itself is still fantastic.

How in the ***** did Makoto even make it on to the ship with an attitude like that? Did she convince herself that she'd die a horrible death if she didn't?

And thus I am now convinced that Chieri and Nagisa need to start making out. Assuming of course, no "evil influences" destroy their potential future relationship.

Sonata is definitely going to be a fun one.

Second round begins.
The girls were all getting along quite well for rivals ^^
Who knew they would be saved in such a flashy & unexpected way.
It was pretty cool though.

It definitely was an awesome episode, no doubt about that. But, the CG will be a problem... I'm sure hope I'll be able to enjoy the show quite a lot even with the CG. I have a really good first impression of this.

Episode 2:

- Russian starport?
- And there's blue haired girl. Chieri or whatever it was.
- OP is pretty good.

- Makoto clearly can't handle space travel. Uh that'll make this job hard.
- I like Sonata.
- Ahaha, "Linda" is so unemotionally cruel.
- Makoto is a mess. Sonata is my favorite of the three new girls.
- Chieri's hat sure hides hair well.
- Mayuyu is a Tamura Yukari-bot!
- And she turns into CG for one short scene or no reason at all. ...I just... don't get it. Why?
- ED is ok, but I like the OP better. Version of Heavy Rotation that played at the end of the ep was good too.

So far, quite good.

Default Episode 3

The process for the election of the 77th generation continues on board their ship.
It was pretty LOL watching their trainings.
Guess the girls thought it would be singing & dancing training, they sure were surprised.
From normal girls to soldiers, now that's a transformation!
Good thing it was just an audition ^^

AKB0048 takes the phrase "Trial by Fire" rather...literally.
