"Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King" Home Video Release Scheduled

DVD and Blu-ray scheduled for November 27th

Warner Home Video, who distributes home video releases for VIZ Media, has announced a November 27th release date for the first anime movie remake of medievel supernatural epic Berserk. The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King will sell for $19.98 on DVD and $24.98 on Blu-ray.

No special features were listed.

Unfortunately, it's Viz. Release it on DVD would have made too much sense for them.

As expected October and November are much more packed on their anime release schedule. Here is looking ahead on some release possibilities for December and the rest of 2013.

Pretty self explanatory here. The key question is how soon the first set of Tiger & Bunny will be released in 2013.

• Bleach: Boxset 15 (December 2012)
• Naruto Shippuden Boxset 13 (January 2013)
• InuYasha: The Final Act Boxset 2 (DVD, Blu-ray) (February or March 2013)
• Pokémon Black & White Boxset 2 (February or March 2013)
• Tiger & Bunny (25 episodes | DVD, Blu-ray) (early 2013)

These three movies are good candidates for the latter of 2013 (October to November):

• BERSERK: The Golden Age Arc II - The Battle for Doldrey | JP premiere date: 6/23/12
• Bleach the Movie 4: Hell Chapter (Jigoku-hen) | JP premiere date: 12/4/10
• Naruto Shippuden the Movie 4: The Lost Tower | JP premiere date: 7/31/10

Part of the Neon Alley package, not sure how fast home video turnaround time would be:

• LAGRANGE -The Flower of Rin-ne- (Season 1 | 12 episodes)
• Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan (Season 1 | 26 episodes)
• ZETMAN (13 episodes)

Viz is impressing a lot more than I would have expected. This is another one I'll definitely be getting on Blu-ray.

Why do you think Viz Media won't be releasing Bleach the Movie 4: Hell Chapter (Jigoku-hen) this year (2012)?

They did release Movie 3 last year (2011) after all...

It's marketing strategy (releasing the movies at November at the latest). Looking all the way back to 2007 to 2012, they have release Bleach and Naruto/Shippuden movies between July to November. They have never released these movies in the month of December. While it's not totally impossible, the current release pattern would suggest it's not coming this December.

You're saying it's impossible or unlikely for Viz Media to make a last-minute announcement of them deciding to release Bleach Movie 4 in October or November 2012 after all?

I wouldn't say totally impossible. At this point in time, it's not very likely. Their schedule is pretty packed (for Viz Media anyways).
