Well, it's not too long after season 2. Now I wonder how long it will take for season 3. (just being released in Japan)

The last volume for season 3 comes out in July. So, if Funi does have the rights for season 3, then the earliest is mid-2013?

Anywho, the boxsets are tempting even though I own the JP BDs and DVDs already.

i dont have read the novels . is season 2 anime original or littele bits.

Every season of Shana follows the novels. Although there are some differences and filler.
