Cute first ep even if it has (more than a few) cliches. Think I am really going to like Miyamoto though. Choral music club...eh why not.
And yeah, the exchange/returning student needs to find some new books desperately...or just watch some anime as it tends to deal with exchange students a lot. I am going to bet the ending animation is updated often with the clubs next target/member watching those gathered around the fountain.

Why are you so pretty, P.A. Works? Obviously more on the Hanasaku Iroha side than the Another side, but I liked both of them. It is nice to go back to that style, though. I like it quite a bit so far. Of course, not much happens, but it's very enjoyable to watch already, and I look forward to seeing how these characters and their relationships develop.

A rather nice surprise to hear the OP song from True Tears (Reflectia by eufonius) sung by the choir.

So, this is Hanasaku Iroha: High-School Side? Just from the beginning, I was wondering if they'll make a cameo some time in this series...haha.
The first episode was cute and fun. Miyamoto is totally Ohana, Sakai is Minko and Okita fits well as Yuina. Out of the two boys, the exchange student was amusing. I don't know how Miyamoto is going to gather the other four to join this new choir club. I totally loved the teacher when she told Sakai "Does it have to be a boy?" regarding a boyfriend with her child. HAHA. The teacher is awesome. The show did a slight troll with the bath scene...I thought it was going to show one of the girls, but instead Miyamoto's brother. Bummer. Overall, enjoyable episode and very pretty looking. Definitely looking forward to next week. The exchange student was extremely amusing showing old/formal customs.

This was a pleasant surprise. I went in expecting something very much in the vein of Hanasaku Iroha, which was very well-animated and had some good episodes but also really got on my nerves at times (especially certain characters). Tari Tari is likewise well-animated but there's no hint of any of the stuff that bugged me about HanaIro. It felt like they crammed a lot of exposition and character introductions into the first episode, so I might have to watch it again before watching episode two next week, but that won't be any trouble at all.
Stuff I liked: -Good OP song. This is where the show first distinguished itself from HanaIro for me... I just don't care for nano.RIPE's vocals, so AiRI is a definite step up. -Having all the students bringing flowers to school was a nifty device for building anticipation by making the viewer wonder why. It was a neat moment when the purpose was revealed. -Reflectia works surprisingly well as a choral piece, heh. -Transfer student guy. For all the transfer students I've seen in anime, I don't think I've ever seen this particular circumstance before, i.e. Japanese-born but has lived abroad from such an early age that he's clueless about the culture. It's like if Ana Coppola moved back to England for her senior year of high school. -Miyamoto's fantasy of going ballistic at the vice principal's desk. -Miyamoto walking in on her little brother in the bath and blackmailing him into joining her club. I did wince at seeing CR's translation sub in Pomp and Circumstance for Aogeba Tootoshi. |

This was probably my most anticipated show of the season. I was not disappointed.
Konatsu seems to be the "main" girl, as she ends up getting the main focus and is the catalyst for making the club. And she's a lot of fun. I especially liked her teasing her brother about his porn stash. Her little shocked gasp at the end was really cute too. Sawa is pretty fun as well, she and Konatsu make quite an amusing pair. Wakana is.... not particularly friendly and outgoing, to say the least, so she's not exactly the sort that makes good first impressions. The badminton guy is okay so far, I guess, not much to say about him. The other is more of the "generic male lead" sort, but his situation gives him some amusing quirks.

Ok, first new show of the Summer and it looks like I've picked a good one to start with. My first thought was this was Glee the anime.
Konatsu is a fun character (yay for more Setou Asami and she gets to start another club!) and Sawa is absolutely lovely. Love Hayami Saori's sweet voice (both spoken and singing). She's totally under-rated as a seiyuu. Wakana is probably the main character but she's in the background for most of this one. Looks like she has to take care of her family and is missing classes because of it. The two guys were interesting too and the show gives them easily identifiable quirks to not relegate them to forgettable characters. Of course what would be a show about music without lots of songs and I'm liking the OP/ED and insert songs so far (Reflectia choral version ftw!). The ED especially, Setou and Hayami's voices blend together very well. Will they add Takagaki's voice later as she joins the two girls sitting at the fountain? Edit : rewatching the episode, the thing they're sitting on is not a fountain. Not sure what the heck it is actually... Last edited by William K : 07-02-2012 at 10:31 AM. |

This looks like an interesting anime.
Nice and relaxing with lots of school life and music too. New transfer student should spice things up nicely ^^ Sakai & Miyamoto starting a new choir club together, now that will be interesting to see. So far it looks it won't be easy at all because those two have totally different ideas of life. Will be watching this one since it has a nice atmosphere ^^
