Default Inu x Boku SS discussion thread

妖狐×僕SS

What I assume is an ojou-sama type moves into another family mansion to prove she can live on her own, but has to be accompanied by an SS (Secret Service).

I think this is the last show of the season to start, other than February's BRS and the next Precure.

Airs Friday, January 13 at 02:27 JST on MBS

Animation studio: David Producton

They've done Ben-To, Ristorante Paradiso, Tatakau Shisho: The Book of Bantorra and Dogs (which was an OVA series iirc),

If they're good that's up to you to decide.

Default Episode 1

The main girl's voice seemed naggingly familiar, but didn't really guess who: Hidaka Rina. What a surprise, since it's a tough-talking ojousama and no where near as high-pitched and chirpy as a lot of her roles are. Still really adorable as usual, though (love some of Ririchiyo's facial expressions). Her interactions with her over-the-top ultra-subservient SS and the rest of the rather eccentric group at the apartment was amusing. Had no idea how strong the supernatural element was (or if there even would be one), but that got revealed at the end. I'm curious to see more of this series.

They also collaborated on Level E with Pierrot. Looks like they actually have an English website if you want more info, Damius:

I thought Ben-to was great, and Level E varied but on average was pretty good.

Yeah they're... alright, I guess.

Dogs and Ristorante I didn't watch.
Ben-To and Level E were "not bad but dropped anyway".
Bantorra started very weak but eventually got really good.

Doesn't look like a great track record but they get points for doing an extreme variety of stuff, I guess.

They certainly haven't had any sales success whatsoever though.
Ristorante: 1,459
Dogs: unranked[?]
Level E: 1,491
Bantorra: 432
Ben-To: 2,101 (vol 1 BD)

Maybe this can change that?

1080p? Really?

This was actually a lot better than I expected. I'm not sure why I wasn't expecting much, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I'll definitely be watching every episode as they air. Sentai will be releasing it on Blu-ray this year, so I'll definitely be buying it then, too. I thought this looked like possibly the best animation I've seen from David Production.

I had read something that said that her SS was a fox demon, but didn't know that the whole complex was inhabited by half demons. I wonder what Ririchiyo actually looks like? Roromiya's form was....disturbing.... given her human shape.

And if they don't fear humans WTH is out there that they need SS for?

Ririchiyo? That's an unusual name. She's a lot of fun, and I like the show's frequent use of chibi style. Chibi-Ririchiyo reminds me of Yamada from working. She's definitely one of my favorite new leading ladies for the season.

She's voiced by Hidaka Rina. The name sounded vaguely familiar but I couldn't place it. A look at her roles explained why. She's not exactly new, but her past roles (at least in the shows I saw) are all relatively minor characters. Her most significant role for me is Last Order in Index.

I always like it when a show actually has characters changing clothes regularly, like a real person would, rather than having a standard outfit they wear all the time. The only other show I can think of that did this is Kami-sama dolls. Ririchiyo went through 5 outfits in this episode, not including her sleepwear (which is apparently panties and a mostly unbottoned shirt). I particularly liked her initial outfit. Black thighhighs plus dark short shorts was a nice combination and the untucked shirt sticking out of her sweater really sealed the deal. Her last one was nice too and I hope she wears that one again since we didn't really get to appreciate in this episode while she was sitting at the table (though at least they were kind enough to let us see her bottom half).

Sooooooo.... Ririchiyo outfit counter: 5

Oh, and she's a half-human, half.... ayakashi or youkai or something (I think I heard the word "ayakashi" used at some point). So all of the SS guards and their masters, and they can transform into an ayakashi form or whatever and fight with it. I was not expecting this series to have supernatural elements in it. This kind of nice surprise is why I generally try to avoid knowing anything at all about a show before I start watching it. And I'm glad this episode skipped the OP, since that definitely would have given it away.

This show also blesses me with some Hanazawa Kana, as a very cute and very amusing soft-spoken SS guard. Who is also a giant 50 foot tall glowing skeleton from hell when the need arises.

As an added bonus, I get Youko Hikasa a lesbian with her sights set on Ririchiyo.

Great first episode.

The OP (used as the ED in this episode) gives a glimpse of Ririchiyo's monster form.

And someone said what they feared in the episode: pure blooded monsters who resent the halflings.
