That's a pretty dickish move and god knows who thought it would be clever. I doubt (or at least hope) though that it'll cause more than a ripple in bd sales in the long term. The show itself is great and doesn't deserve this negative publicity.

How could someone do this? and why? It's one of the worst joke you can do and do it in public to add to the humiliation... Really bad...

Via the Twitter, here's a pretty good blog post summarizing why it's such a big deal. If you had any sympathy before and thought it was a prank gone wrong, reading this will change your mind. A bunch of fucking assholes.

Kotaku & Another one found by Fence.

Since I've already expressed how fucked up I think the whole thing is, I'll also add... thank fucking goodness Sawashiro Miyuki, Toyosaki Aki, and Kanemoto Hisako don't appear to have been part of this shit. At least I haven't seen their names connected to it in any way and I'm sure people would have been raging about it already.

The article you mentioned that Fence pointed out seems to indicate Kanemoto Hisako was in on it... Well she was at least laughing about it on her own talk show?

Either way it's incredibly disgusting what has happened here.

Kanemoto was one of the two main instigators and, I believe, the seiyuu who was involved with the electronic shocking when Ichiki didn't make he goals "like having 20,000 twitter followers" (as well as making fun of Ichiki during the "prank"). Bottom line is there are a lot of people involved...

The only hero is Sugita who made a stink about it after finding out.

Oh well, better her than the other two, I guess. I just can't believe the guy's agency was on it too (according to the one ink anyway, it's hard to know what the hell is true or not with this). Who would want to be represented by a company like that?

I dunno, the whole thing is disgusting but there are hundreds of people involved in making this show who had no part on this, and it's a damn good show, so my order stays and I'm going to keep liking it.

Supposedly Ichiki was also part of another prank with Oniichan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!! Was that one as public?

Poor guy. If there are a lot of people involved, I wonder if the prank might have been leaked and he went along with it and this is one giant crazy publicity stunt that went wrong. There's probably no answer to that...so, whatever.

What stood out to me is the following:

"“So many people are chasing their dreams in this business but because of that they’re desperate and easy to use.♪ Because he didn’t realize it himself he was easy to fool, that’s why he won’t get hired- [...] they’re [pitiful enough to feel] just glad to be in this industry even if they get paid next to nothing and their stupid efforts will always be in vain’ part and the ‘so easy to use, but they have no future♪”"

Sigh. I hate humanity.

I hadn't heard that one.

Apparently, on the day it happened, Ichiki made a tweet about being the worst day of his life or something. I can understand that, since a main role would have been a pretty big break (and he apparently, canceled some other stuff to accommodate it).

[edit] More background via Twitter thanks to TentonTim:

Who knew being a dick towards Momoi would have snowballed into this Kokoro Connect controversy?
Eufonius guy was an asshole…digging into his twitter to figure out what happened is what got the ball rolling.
A couple of days ago, Momoi said she was taking a break from Twitter. Seems to be directly related to comments Kikuchi made at her.
People tried to figure out what really happened and as they kept digging, they ran smack dab into the Kokoro Connect bullying.

Well, I'm not importing the Japanese BDs--instead, I'm planning to buy Sentai's release as soon as it's solicited--but that's my stance on this.

No doubt, this whole mess is absolutely disgusting. But enough of the money gets spread around to folks that have nothing to do with it that, if you ask me, it shouldn't be affecting anyone's decision to support the series.

Though, I suppose if this really hurts the show (as in, it cannot recoup production costs because of this), it'd be a good lesson not to do it in the future? I hope it doesn't get to that point; the negative fan reaction should be enough of a lesson.
