I think the asking price for the set would still be $149 weather or not they included the lunch box so it's a nice extra.

Hmm thanks for the info.. but no, that doesn't really count. The original was BD release was it not? Releasing it later as a DVD only for $150 is pretty damn lame IMO. Why not give us the high quality BD release? I dont want a cruddy SD version for such a pretty show.

Anywy as far as DRR goes thanks for the info, and thanks for the unboxing video greenman. I guess i'll just pick this up even though i think its a bit high in price without any really cool swag. I love the series so much that its worth it for some BD's. (already have the DVD's but meh so what)

Now for me to contemplate if i should get Bakemontagatari or not >_< Maybe i'll actually go back and finish watching the series before to see if its worth it or not

No, the original JP releases were DVD only.

The only thing that got a BD release first was the short chapter 8 "film", and even then it's only standalone JP release was DVD only too.


Also even if they were originally released on BD, it'd still count. People can bitch all they want about the format, but it's still a rerelease at the end of the day.

Unless you take into account the BDBox being import and not counting because it's not an R1 release, then it totally doesn't count because this would be the first release we're getting,

Is this set + anime worth spending 149.99 dollars on? It's a lot money to spend on a lunchbox... At least the show is 26 episodes long so at least you get your moneys worth.

Also is the main slipcase DVD-sized? It looks pretty tall compared to a Bluray.

It is worth it. Depends on ur enjoyment of the show. Also, it is blu ray size. The pic clearly shows this.

I think slim is generous. They didn't release a cheaper version after releasing a more pricey one. Baccano was the first Blu-ray release in R1.

Baccano! wasn't the first Blu-ray in R1 (way off on this). It wasn't even Aniplex of America's first Blu-ray release (Read or Die was their first domestic BD).
