Default Kyoukai no Kanata anime announced

Today, the official site for the Kyoukai no Kanata (I'm TLing under the name Beyond the Boundary) novel announced that the novel is getting a second volume published on Monday, but an anime is currently in the works.

The story begins with Akihito Kanbara rushing up to stop Mirai Kuriyama from jumping off the top of the school. Akihito is caught between humanity and the Youmu as he was born with a parent in each world. Mirai has a unique talent amongst the underworld soldiers, the ability to form her blood into solid objects. Following their chance meeting, that event begins to occur.

Here's the staff from the CM aired last year during the 5th episode of Hyouka to promote the first novel:
Director/Storyboards: Taichi Ishidate
Character Design/Animation Director: Chise Kamoi
Key Animators: Chiyoko Ueno, Naoko Yamada, Rie Sezaki, Nao Naitou, Rika Oota, Tatsuya Satou (Animation DO)
In-between Check: Kiyoka Negi
Color Design: Kana Miyata
Special Effects: Shizuka Uno
Backgrounds: Tomoki Hirashi
Director of Photography: Tetsuo Umetsu

This would be Ishidate's first time as a director of a show (he was the assistant director for Nichijou and has directed 3 of the last four final episodes for KyoAni's series). Kamoi is the illustrator for Nagomu Torii's light novels and has served as the AD for several episodes, but never for a full series. Should be very interesting to watch. The CM was produced in full 1080p HD, but the series is likely to be in 955.5p with 1080p OP/EDs.

The CM put out ages ago looked rather action-heavy, though I wonder if the show itself will be the same. Chuunibyou was a major success so let's see if they can go 2 for 2.

As for the "new" guy (though he's been with the company a while) we'll have to see how that goes. The ending to Chuunibyou was not its strong point. Certainly not bad, but definitely not its best episode either. Though I don't think that's really his fault as there was just too much ground to cover in one episode. Nichijou ending was fine. Hyouka ending was gorgeous. 2.5 out of 3 ain't bad.

(regarding Chuunibyou's ending) For writing/plot, the episode was rushed. For how it was directed (camera angles, movement, visual effects), I think the episode was well done. Hyouka's ending was fantastic and really looked great visually, but that had a lot of help from Takemoto (storyboards) and Gatoh (script). Nichijou's ending was nice, but nothing exceptional. I quite liked his ideas for the Nichijou ED animations, so that's a plus in my book.

First more Chuunibyou and now Kyoukai no Kanata anime... 18/10, KyoAni.
This literally made my day, so fucking happy.

The character designs and other stuff with this show look very promising, something that KyoAni is definitely good at. I can't wait for this show to come out. Given the contradictory ending of C2B that having a sequel announced is a great thing.

It's time to graduate from here. But there's still some business left.
The only thing better than anime is sports. Get hit hard and you got JACKED UP! Or else it's a C'mon Man!

I'm really looking forward to this. Well, that's true for every KyoAni shows. Let's see if this one will be another winner.

Oh. I didn't pay attention to this because I had never heard of the title, but I just found out it was KyoAni. So yeah, pretty exciting. And watching the CM, which I also hadn't seen before, even more so. I hope we find out more soon, and that it materializes before too long. Obviously I'm fine with waiting as long as KyoAni needs to take to keep up their standard level of quality, though.
