I already buy 2 shows this season, (DD is one of them and it means 12 volumes, since I need to buy season 1 & 2) so I can't spend more for this season. I hope they will release the boxsets for both seasons of Yuru Yuri and both seasons of Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon... like that I would be able to support both shows and support the industry which is so important for me. But, I can understand why you buy on YAJ and you still support the industry for later volumes which is great. So you should not feel bad about it.

Currently watching (episodes watched up to in brackets):
Outstanding
Rinne no Lagrange season 2 (3)
Yuri really makes a show better. Madoka, Lan and Muginami - damnit! The three of you need to get married now!

Very Good
Natsuiro Kiseki (6)
Turning out to be better than I though. Songs, animation is decent and there's quite a bit of yuri innuendo despite episode 4.

Good
None

Average
None

Below Average
Achi Kochi (finished)
The ED is cute - that's for sure. The rest of the show is....so-so. I don't like the character designs, the character personalities bore me and the dialogue is dull.

Phantom for the requiem- episodes 2-7- I always come back to this one. I've seen it all the way through only once, but I have rewatched 1-13 episodes a couple times.

So I suppose, like you, I'll wait for the inevitable BD Box in a year or so for Horizon I and just purchase Horizon II now to support a third season. I guess it'll be similar to you having Strike Witches II and not Strike Witches I and catching up by getting the BD Box. I've never really imported in such a non-linear fashion before!
I would be curious to know, what exactly makes the "odds very high" or "inevitable" for this show to have a boxset? I want to get this show, like I previously said, both seasons in a boxset for each season... I can wait, that is no problem, but why do you think this one will have a boxset for each seasons at a later date?

While, I'm at it, how "high" are the odds for Yuru Yuri and why?

To be honest there aren't many shows that has first gotten BD single volume releases and then a BD box after that. The normal thing is DVD first then a BD box down the road when they've remastered it etc. (see HidaSketch). For example Strike Witches didn't have single volumes released on BD unless I'm terribly mistaken, so they went back and made a BD box set before/when season two was airing. Horizon season one had single volumes released on BD.

I would love to a see a list of shows that had single BD volumes then got a box set after that. I imagine that it's quite, quite rare.

It's all about the money though, obviously. If a publisher feels that they can milk the franchise or if the franchise has gathered a larger fanbase after a second season (Horizon being the example), they can release a BD box of the first season in hopes that it will sell a decent amount of copies. There's also a risk that fans will be pissed off when there's a BD box for much less money than what they paid for the individual volumes cso they'd have to figure out if a box release would be worth it in that regard. But if they haven't released a BD box of K-On!, why would they do it for Horizon or YuruYuri?

I wouldn't say that it's likely that there will be a BD box for YuruYuri in the forseeable future because you can still get the LE's from any retailer. It would be stupid to just release a box because then no one (?) would buy the remaining stock of the individual volumes! There's also the question of how many would actually buy it, but that's impossible to estimate (price, interest, etc.).

I suppose the reasons for the assumption of a BD Box being inevitable is because its becoming some kind of trend now. High selling BDs have nothing to lose if they get BD Boxes, if anything the company will earn more money for the BD Box than just selling the singles sell as they are, plus it adds interest to the series.

I think it's more possible with Horizon than YuruYuri though as Horizon is a very high selling series while YuruYuri is a pretty good selling series, but it's still possible for YuruYuri just not any time soon in my opinion.

I guess the problem with "will this get a BD Box when it already had BD singles?" is that there's no found criteria for if it'll get a BD Box other than another season is coming/has happened. Though if you're like to know my reasons for a Horizon BD Box it's because the LE BDs are out of print and only the REs are in print. They said they'd be reprinting the LE BDs but that has yet to happen.

But yeah, I don't really know. I guess it just "feels right" for Horizon to get a BD Box soon because of how popular it is. And YuruYuri seems like the kind of show which'll get a BD Box if it gets a third season in a year or two.

phantom for the requiem- episodes 13-end- Watching it a 2nd time through really clears up some questions I had the first time I watched it. Oh well now for something more funny.

Hellsing Ultimate vol.1- Excessively gorey, but Alucard still kicks ass!

Magical index-episode 1- Cute and funny, but I will have to see the 2nd episode to see if I really like it.

Aria Scarlet ammo-episodes 1-8- This series may seem like a fanservice show, but the plot and relationships between the characters make this worth watching.

Rune Soldier disc 1- I forgot how funny this show is. I got my BF addicted to it too LOL.

Back when I heard this I was like: "I wonder why they are doing this over a BD box." Now I am more: "I wish so much they would have done a BD box right away over this"... and I didn't even watch episode 12-13...

Aria the scarlet ammo-episode 9-12- A pretty good series, nothing that I'd buy, but pretty funny.

Avatar Korra-episodes 9-12- AMAZING! I love this series beginning to end, it was maybe not as good as the original Last Airbender, but pretty good series.

Infinite stratos- episode 1- HAHA this made me lol all the way through the 1st episode.

Cool Re: currently watching in Fall

C-control- Episodes 1-11- AWESOME! I haven't seen such a well thought out original plot since Eden of the East. It takes real world life and blends it with Sci-Fi. The character development and mystery along with action fight scenes, makes this so worth watching! I might even be coaxed into buying the DVD version that is coming out at the end of the month.
