Yeah, probably not a whole lot they can do about something like this when it was probably only dropped on them a week or two before broadcast - that kind of rights clearance is probably a bit too much to sort out within a short period of time.

I'm rather more curious to see what's going to happen when Sentai put out their physical release - I'd hope that given they've got months of lead time they'd be able to clear the rights for what's a one-time use of an old, old song. Who knows, though.

Episode 8:

- Ooarai vs Russian Ikamusume!
- The vehicle team! Yaaaaay.
- New team... not eyepatch and gargantuan tits yet. It's the uptight triplets! Well, one of them is uptight anyway. Sodoko~
- Momo almost lets slip that they'll be disbanded if they lose. No point in Anzu hiding it from Miho anymore.
- But once Miho is there, telling her seems quite hard. Anzu just wants to reminisce about the time she's spent with Momo and Yuzu. Aww.
- And in the end, they say nothing.

- Man, bitch much, mom? Disowning your daughter. What a jerk.
- Everyone is excited for the match. Miho's mom will be there. Hana's mom will be there. Jeeze, the pressure keeps going up. They can't afford to lose this one for a number of reasons.
- Back in Miho's room with the creepy teddy bears.

- Before the battle! Of course the first years just have a snowball fight. The cosplay team builds a snow samurai. Heh.
- Katyusha. The only person Anzu gets to look down on.
- lol Nonna.
- And a parting shot at Miho by Katyusha... ah yes, Miho lost to her last year.

- Uh oh. Miho abandons her plan in the face of peer pressure. There's no way that ends well.
- Holy shit 15 tanks? Looks like the limit is higher here.
- Pravda marches into battle singing their song. Meanwhile... man, Ooarai is pretty damn scrappy looking in comparison, aren't they?
- TAKE THAT, SNOW!
- Ominous reference to Stalingrad.
- Two quick kills, and a heck of a lot of overconfidence. Oh Ooarai. You should learn to trust Miho. =(

And they all rush into a trap, against Miho's orders. Court-martial them all!

Momo lets the secret out, and now it becomes a fight for more than just a tournament win...

Ah, that was a lot of fun.

More dancing from both sides, tanks maneuvering far too easily in the snow and one ending up on its turret after getting shot (with the white flag sticking up from the underside! ^^; ), Yukari playing spotter in the church tower, the student council tank showing that it can do quite well when Momo's not the one doing the shooting, and another nail-biter ('cliffhanger' is a bit too strong of a word, but my choice doesn't sound very good, either) at the finish of the episode.

Just how did those four girls manage to bury their STuG in the snow that quickly?

We get to see the three remaining Oorai girls from OP in their SD tank for the ED. GuP is providing unmarked spoilers! ;p Someone elsewhere identified it as a Japanese Type 3 tank that, while in some level of production, never saw action during WW2. I wasn't expecting to see anything else beyond the recently-found Tiger. Where does the Type 3 turn up, then? ^^; So, presumably Miho's crew will get upgraded to the Tiger for the final round, with another crew getting the Panzer? Provided that they actually win vs. Pravda. ;p

Now to wait for another week, but a subbed ep. 9 will make that wait a little easier. Argh! ^^;

Wow, the student council team suddenly became badass... though they didn't take out as many tanks as it first looked like. But still!

And we get names for Sodoko's clones: Pazomi and Gomoyo.

Goddamn, what a great episode. And aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh, evil cliffhangers. 3 episodes seems barely enough to wrap things up adequately. And either way, they're introducing the last team really late. This must get a season 2. Maybe we'll get lucky and it will be a surprise split cour.

Also, really hard to not import this. I neeeeeeeeeeeds to. But I'm not sure I can afford to import two shows this season. So... cancel Chu2Koi? UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH PAINFUL DECISIONS. ;_;

3 episodes seems barely enough to wrap things up adequately. And either way, they're introducing the last team really late.

It seems like it might be hard to have any sort of epilogue, if the fight with Black Forest is a good one, but we've got three episodes left. Either way, the fight with Pravda will be over almost as soon as the next episode starts, so that still leaves a fair amount of time. As far as the last tank crew goes, have we even seen the girls in the background at any point? I do wonder how they'll introduce both them and their tank...

This must get a season 2.

I really hope so. I don't know if there's more source material to draw upon, or if they'd have to invent something for more anime, but I'd love to see more of Miho and the rest of the club.

These are (so far) the only two that I'm importing from this season, and I've still got three(? I think) earlier series coming in.
