After a break for the holidays, Production I.G's anime adaptation of "Augmented Science Adventure" game Robotics;Notes will be returning to the Noitamina programming block on January 10th with new opening theme "Houkyou no Messiah" from Haruki and Kanako Itou's "Topology" as its second ending. A special promo for the upcoming second half of the anime was prepared for this weekend's Comiket 83.

There's my Kanako Itou. Sucks to only be the ending for the second half, but it's better than nothing, which is what I was expecting after the initial OP/ED announcement.

- Time for the summer festival.
- Meanwhile, Frau and Kai are searching for cheaters. And now, Frau knows about Airi.
- Aki must have sensed something when she stole food from Nae and Mitchi.
- GunPro 1 is complete. Now it's time to show it off.
- C'mon! This piece of junk isn't walking. Big time epic fail!
- What's next for Aki?

After seeing her vision fail so miserably, it looks like she will have to resort to taking JAXA's offer, and her big sister's words of discouragement are looming large now that she built a big pile of junk. Things are sure about to get interesting.

- Something fell from the sky, a monopole.
- Aki has some ideas. Use it to power up the robot.
- Back to JAXA, and it's time to reconsider the proposal.
- Engineering, good. Parts, bad. That's why the robot failed.
- Since when did Aki switch to nekomimi mode?
- Now there's an idea. Use the tablets to augment reality.
- Meanwhile, Airi is asked to just go away.

That episode was pretty interesting seeing how the answer to most of Aki's problems just fell from the sky.

Junna episode, surprisingly. Very good, we learned why she hates robots and what happened between her and Doc.

Only thing keeping it from being perfect was lack of Frau hitting on her.

So far the only interesting thing are those Kimijima Kou reports.
I'm still waiting for things to start moving forward.
Somehow it feels like nothing much is happening.
Probably because it's isn't, at least not so far.
Gun-Pro2 dream is at a standstill so far.
At least Juna and grandpa overcame their issues.

No real progress on those big plot developments yet. However, Junna's story was very nice, and explained some things that are important to understanding her character, so that's definitely appreciated.

Jun focused episode. At least we get her backstory and why she hates robots - that's good to know.

Judging from the Jun focus and looking through the Robono materials guide book, this episode seems to cover the Jun ending you could get in the game (can't verify it myself yet since I haven't gotten up to that point). From the preview video that was shown at C83, I assume the next episode is going to be Frau focused and then the next episode might cover another ending before going to the true route.

I think learning more about the other characters this way is good for anime viewers since, at least with Jun, right now, it answers some questions viewers would have.

Their robot building is progressing really really slowly.
Kona was acting her usual weird self.
Her and Kai and really into those Kimijima reports.
They seems to be making some progress.
Looks like the solar flares are doing their thing.
Poor Kona got seriously set up..

Now that I think about it, both noitaminA shows had a very dramatic end to their first cours, took the same two weeks off, came back with a backstory of a supporting member of the main group, then moved along with the main plot that was left hanging three weeks prior. Interesting.

But shit, Kona... Is this what's needed to move things forward? She has so much more to contribute and learn, so maybe not, but still... things are getting very dire.

Uh, well, shit sure is happening now. Really bad shit.

And Frau was acting pretty weird throughout, even moreso than usual, as if she was hyped up on caffeine or something.

And I have no idea what was going on at the very end. At first I thought the shot of the vents was suggesting someone was pumping some sort of poison into her apartment, but then we see her in her tub with a box cutter for some reason.
