Default [JP/US] Gundam Unicorn [EngDub][EngSub]

Six volume OVA series, 50 minutes each. Coming to Blu-ray in the Spring of 2010. Worldwide distribution was mentioned, but who knows what that means at this point.

C'mon Bandai, bring this baby to North America.

The PDF seems to indicate that English and other languages will be available with BD and streaming, but not DVD, strangely. Perhaps the subtitles will be available on BD at a later date using BD Live? Kinda doubt it, but it would be interesting, if a little annoying.

That's very good news (in a way) at least i won't have to wait for the a US release. I hope that BV continues this trend for more titles, since at the it's more cash in their pocket and a very intelligent way IMHO to fight digital piracy (to a certain aspect at least).

March 12 BD to have Japanese/English dub; DVD to have Japanese dub

Bandai Visual's Blu-ray Disc release of the Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn anime series will have a simultaneous overseas release on March 12 with Japanese and English dubbing, as well as Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Chinese subtitles. The DVD version will ship on the same day with Japanese dubbing as well as Japanese and English subtitles.

The first anime episode, "Unicorn no Hi" (The Day of the Unicorn), will have a "premiere review" run in theaters in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo for two weeks, starting on February 20. The theaters will also offer advance sales of the Blu-ray Disc release. More details about the "premiere review" will be announced on January 20. Also on February 20, Sony Computer Entertainment will distribute the anime on its online PlayStation Store for its PlayStation 3 and PSP consoles.
EDIT: More added.

So the Blu-ray version will be released in both Japan and the US (with an English dub) at the same time, yet the DVD version will not?
Crap...

I imagine the Blu-ray will be the Japanese version with an English slip cover or something and an online exclusive, at least at first.

And as pointed out elsewhere, DVD has different regions for Japan and the US. Although I have no idea why all the major studios are still using region coding for DVD nowadays with it being easily crackable while the higher-quality Blu-rays are mostly region free. Hard to break with tradition, I guess. Plus Japanese DVDs are often max-bitrate for audio and video, so they might not want to add in another audio track, even if it wouldn't affect the overall bitrate much if at all.

And this is how you pick up US sales. Although the pricing method will always be screwed up, this is definitely a right step in the right direction. I'm not even that much of a hard-core Gundam fan and I will be picking this up.

I am not a gundam fan... never got into the series. but I am tempted to buy this just because Bandai is including an Eng Dub & Subs...

Still wonder who is dubbing this... a NA based studio?

Or a Asian based studio... Animax Asia? /shivers

If I import all 6... it'll be close around $400-$500 after shipping?

See they should of done this with the Cowboy Bebop movie... or does Sony own the dub for that? /shrug or My-Hime BDs... then I'd just import and worry about cost later

Simultaneous overseas release to me means you won't have to import it but it will probably be expensive anyway (but shipping should be lower... small comfort)
