(10/11 will be combined into one subthread due to the likelihood of the Eng. release being coupled together) Note As usual, please try to follow these three easy forum courtesy habits when replying: 1) If you're the first person to post about a novel, please respond to the root post (this post) and indicate in the subject line which episode you're posting about. 2) If someone has already posted about a novel before you, please respond to that post (or a relevant reply to that post). Keep in the right subthread. 3) Don't use the blue "Post Reply" button because it causes your reply not to correctly inherit the subject line of the post you're replying to. Just click "Quote" to the post you want to reply to.

Volume 1: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya:
JP cover art/Eng. paperback art/Special panorama cover art The novel that started it all. Nagaru Tanigawa submitted the manuscript for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in late 2002 and it won the Sneaker Grand Prize in February 2003 before being published in June 2003. It was already selling very well prior to the animated adaptation by Kyoto Animation in 2006, but after that adaptation, the popularity soared. It is currently the only light novel in Japan to have 1 million copies in print.

Volume 4: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
JP cover art/Eng. paperback art/Special panorama cover art The third long story and the first novel to not have an SOS Brigade member on the cover art. The Sneaker Editorial board decided to ignore spoiling the fans by having Asakura on the cover and mirror the pose Haruhi made on the first novel's cover instead. This novel was adapted into a movie released in 2010. As stated in the title, Haruhi disappears.

Volume 9: The Dissociation of Haruhi Suzumiya
JP cover art/Eng. paperback art/Special panorama cover art The first of a three novel story and the first novel in the franchise not to end in a single novel. This volume introduces a new mechanic to the franchise: a split timeline that will run in parallel. What could be the cause of this disaster? The first pressing for this novel was 300,000, the highest at that time for the franchise.
