I never visit the franchise and don't think I will at this point.

I was on the verge of starting to buy the 2199 Japan BD volumes since they have Eng subs but now i might leave it as this license seems so out of the blue that they might just get 2199 if R does well.

I've had the digisub sitting on my hard drive for quite a while and never got around to looking at it. I just haven't had a great interest in it because I haven't seen Yamato / Starblazers. I am getting the 2199 BDs (so far at least), so maybe my interest in Yamato R will grow...

I wonder if this is the original version (which wasn't very good) or the directors cut (that apparently makes all the world of difference). It wasn't so much the story - that was pretty standard issue Star Blazers Crisis - but it was the music. Some lame classical music bed instead of awesome fight music.

Either way, I'll probably get it since I'm a Star Blazers fan from long, long ago.

At FUNimation panel, asked about Yamato Resurrection. They're still working out if they can/will release both cuts of the film #NYCC

Maybe only tangentially related, maybe not, but the Voyager Entertainment Star Blazers website recently parted ways with Tim Eldred, who was responsible for most of the information on the site.

At first, the official Star Blazers site remained up with all the old content, which was to remain, albeit with no updates, while Eldred set up his own site. According to a Facebook post of his, the split was simply due to Voyager not wanting to update their website anymore.

Well, I just checked yesterday and all the old content on the official site seems to be gone, replaced with a rather blunt message on the frontpage informing readers that any other Star Blazers sites out there (i.e. Tim Eldred's) are unofficial and will be (not at risk of) be prosecuted.

Contrary to Mr. Eldred's earlier assertion, there's clearly some bad blood there, but one can't help but wonder if the license for Resurrection or a potential license of 2199 may be at play here somewhere along the line.
