Why did you think this was unlikely? This is an Aniplex produced show (even using their own studio to animate it). It's highly improbable that they would have licensed it to another NA company and AoA streams all their "simulcasts" via Crunchy.

Because CR can be pretty bad about getting the most hyped otaku titles sometimes, and because I (and many others) figured Funimation would be gunning for it due to the success (so I hear anyway) of Strike Witches, and because I'm pessimistic. I'm quite happy none of that affected it.

As for Aniplex, I know their titles go to CR a lot but as I've ignored the R1 industry for the past few years I don't know much about who gets their physical-release licenses. I do know they release some of their marquee titles themselves now, but do they really not license anything they distribute to anyone else these days? It appears that they will default to their NA branch if they hold the international rights to shows. So for something like KoiChoco or Space Brothers, they'll distribute the series in Japan, but they don't hold the international rights and thus they'll go to other NA licensors. By "go to CR a lot", you mean nearly everything in their catalog goes there unless it's a movie/OVA/Miku concert. If Aniplex is involved (especially if it's an A-1 show like OreShura or VividRed or next season's Oreimo.), you can pretty much count on it to be simulcasted through CR.

That's why I'm so shocked that people thought it would go to Funi. Yes, SW has done well for them, but that's an entirely different production committee/rightsholder. Even if Kadokawa held the rights to Vividred, I highly doubt they'd go to Funi given the issues Funi's had with their releases lately. Kadokawa titles are going to Crunchy as well lately (I really expect to see one of those boxes be the other KAD show, Mondai), so that really leaned Vividred to CR over any other publisher. (TBS appears to be the big holdout for Sentai not to simulcast all of their shows on CR. Other licenses have been simulcast without issues.)

Senran Kagura might be from Marvelous AQL, who is known to work with Crunchyroll, Sentai, and FUNimation, though I think it tends to be more common they end up on Crunchyroll.
