Fairly decent re-introduction to the Minami sisters after a considerable time they've been off the air. Most of the episode outside of the three sisters focused on Kana's school and friends with only a bit of Haruka at school and no Chiaki at school, just Uchida (the most amusing one anyway...) and no Makoto/Mako-chan. The funniest things IMO were Chiaki's 'angel' and 'devil' on her shoulders quickly giving up any semblance of being on opposite sides, and almost any of the stuff involving Miyuki. I don't remember her from before- is she a new character, or is my memory just horrid?
The SD segments were fun too, they're a nice change. Overall, it's just nice to have more Minami-ke to watch. And it looks like next week a wild Mako-chan will appear! |

Well, that was Minami-ke. The nice thing about a show like this is, while I never watched the last bit of the second season or the third, I don't really feel like I missed anything bu jumping back in now.
I loved how the opening incorporated bits of "Keikenchi Joushouchuu" into it, but was still rather different. The kotatsu scene was my favorite (stag beetle indeed). Miyuki was adorable (although perhaps she was introduced in the parts I did not watch).

Yup, the first episode was very Minami-ke, indeed. Even after the long wait between the last season (I did not watch the OVAs) and this season, it was very easy to get back into the show.
While the first episode wasn't super funny or whatever, it was a good episode to reintroduce everything. It was done very smoothly and some jokes and stuff were used again which was nice. (stag beetle and Haruka's laziness). Quote:

It's nice to have more Minami-ke. Geez, its been 4 years since the last TV series.
I like Miyuki. Pretty sure she's new, but she might have had a very brief appearance at some point. In any case, I'm hoping she gets some decent screentime. The Kana/Miyuki scenes were the highlights of the episode. Alas, not Mako-cakes or Touma this time.

Interesting to introduce a new character, but Miyuki's adorable so its fine.
Anyway, pretty good. Also Kana in her underwear.

M-i-n-a-m-i-k-e let's go!
Episode 1: - It's so nice to see these three again. - ::takes off glasses:: "Sorry, I don't have my glasses on right now." Keiko. <3 - Hah, Kana managed to outsmart her. Jeeze Miyuki is cute. - Haha or maybe not. - Yuka! - Heh I like the mirrored gags with her and Kana. And of course, the way Chiaki crushes their feelings without noticing. - Angel Chiaki is adorable. Very angrl Taiga-esque. And devil Chiaki is sexy... - Heh, Chiaki isn't very experienced at trying to be nice to anyone who isn't Haruka-neesama. - Oh right, Fujioka. Poor hopeless Fujioka. - Hah I forgot about Fujioka the bear. - Yes, Kana! It's Miyuki! - Kotatsu~ - Half naked Kana~ - Heh and Chiaki's disclaimer again. That was very Minami-ke. Yay.

It's OK Mako-chan. One day, you'll realize you were always meant to be a girl.
Ah, I forgot about the other Minami family. Kana and April fools is a dangerous combination. Fujioka/Touma? I'd accept this pairing regardless of how the switch up the gender. The hairpin does look cute on you, Mako-chan. You know you want to wear it... Nothing is more mainly than wearing a cute, adorable hairpin. But Uchida wants to be asked? ;_; And Touma found something feminine she can do: clothes making. Mako-chan best girl. Then Kana.

I love how Chiaki's Angel and Demon side disagreed for all of about 30 seconds and then started conspiring together to try to figure out what the other two were up to. They should at least have the appearance of being on opposite sides.....but well, that's Chiaki for you.

Now that Touma and Mako-chan have returned, Minami-ke is truly back.
Mako-chan, stop lying to yourself and just accept that that's who you really are. The Touma/Kana April Fool's stuff was great. Kana ended up unintentionally carrying out the Minami brothers' wish and was *too* effective at it. Also, Kana can be kinda brilliant, but she picks the strangest things to apply it to. Yoshino ended up stealing the episode. I remember there was an episode in the third season (pretty sure it was the third) in which it was hinted at that she knew, but it was unclear. Now its confirmed: she definitely, unquestionably, knows that Mako-chan = Makoto.
