Some old friends return. K is an absolutely perfect example of what a game changer a BD Top 100 can be for sub-10k titles.
And GirlPan is officially the best selling show of the season.
Initial D sells about 2.5x the Stalker estimate.

Fall update:
Initial D Fifth v1 sells 6,534. As mentioned, that's far more than the 2,698 Stalker predicted. Considering this is also airing on pay per view, it looks like Initial D is still a profitable franchise.

K v4 sells 3905/1712, total 5,617. 33.4% increase over v3 wk1.
v1 adds 287 BDs, total 9,079. This is about as clear an example of why Top 100 lists are awesome as you'll get. This allows us to fill in weeks 3 thorough 8, which came to 2172 additional BDs.
v2 adds 281 BDs, total 6,394. Wks3-8 added 1488.
v3 adds 245 BDs, total 5,958. Wks 3-5 added 891.

Ixion Saga v2 sells 1332/1814, total 3,146. ...What the hell? That's 79% more than v1. Maybe it came with an extra similar to v1, but a much more desirable one? [Fake Edit: Oh, event ticket. That's a pretty strong event ticket effect.]

GirlPan v1 adds 2358 BDs, total 18,713, meaning third week sold 200 copies. Whats great is that with the expanded BD list, we're able to get that extra 200 counted in what I guess was a 101-200 ranking last week. It could hit 20k.

Chuunibyou v1 adds 347 BDs, total 17,129.

TLR Darkness v1 adds 265 BDs, total 12,674

Little Busters v1 adds 369 BDs, total 11,405.

Hidamari Honeycomb v1 adds 238 BDs, total 9,928. Oh what a tease, so close to 10k.

Psycho-Pass v1 adds 384 BDs, total 8,043.

Kamimashita v1 adds 462 DVDs, total 6,249. Now it should do fairly respectably even after the expected v2 drop.

Summer update:
Tari Tari v5 sells 7,101 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Looks like al volumes will stay over 7k first week.

Oda Nobuna v5 sells 3590/791, total 4,381. Slightly up on v4.

Moyashimon v5 sells 862/716, total 1,578, 5 copies more than v4.

Sword Art Online v1 adds 307 BDs, total 43,741.
v2 adds 279 BDs, total 39,124.
v3 adds 881 BDs, total 35,325.

Past seasons:
Hyouka v7 adds 333 BDs, total 9,376.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Minami-ke BD Box sells 2,855.

Strike Witches Movie adds 206 BDs, total 41,474. Wks 5-9 added 1210.

Next week, nothing. The week after, Robono and Zetsuten. Both will be pretty dismal. The week after, Hiiro 2, Medaka 2, Sakurasou, Jojo, and Magi. Jojo and Magi are both locks for 10k v1, the other three... not so much. That wraps up Winter except for stragglers Teekyu and Ichizon Lv.2.

Default Re: Miscellaneous Information

It's not the kind of show I track in my rankings, but it's worth noting that One Piece Film Z is ridiculously huge at the box office. The biggest previous One Piece film in recent memory was Strong World, which did ¥4,326,705,502 after 7 weeks (not sure where it got in the end, probably about ¥5bn). But Film Z is, from the latest number I've seen, already over ¥6bn after just 5 weeks.

Seeing as how Strong World sold at least 351,082 DVD/BDs, it looks like Film Z could do the same or more. Pretty safe bet it'll be the second best selling individual anime disc of 2013 after Eva 3.

It would be awesome if it hits 20k. This is definitely the biggest surprise of 2012, no one would have predicted the show to sale that good. What was the last show that was a surprise like this in terms of copies sold?

^ And right before T&B there was Madoka. Biggest surprise of 2011.

GirlPan had an initial guess of 3500 and now it is going to sell more than 20000. I wonder what is the ratio between initial guess and final sales for T&B... I would say the ratio for Madoka should be much more than GirlPan though.

The sheer scale of Madoka's success was definitely a surprise, so yes the ratio of expectations to actual sales may be higher.
20k/3.5k = 5.7x GirlPan expectations, the equivalent for Madoka v1 would be expectations of 14k. I would guess people weren't predicting quite that much for Madoka, though I bet they predicted more than 3.5k.

Still, GirlPan probably fits the category of "dark horse" better, compared to Madoka which was was highly anticipated, heavily marketed, had a creative "dream team", and hit the Top 10 on Amazon within 12 hours of solicitation. GirlPan on the other hand was estimated to sell average at best, and didn't even hit the top 100 for three weeks, top 10 after 5 weeks. Then all of a sudden now it's nearly 20k.

GaruPan v1 just jumped massively in ranking... 361 (2013/1/15 23:00) -> 1 (2013/1/16 00:00). Mistake? or something incredible just happened?

EDIT: Showing the sudden change in ranking for all the GaruPan volumes.
