...179 threshold. Magical.
Closer to 20k for GirlPan. Almost no first week drop for Chuunibyou. Strong second week for ID5.
And lol Bake is back.
Kinda disappointed Hidamari didn't make it, it just needed the tiniest of nudges to get over 10k.

Fall update:
Chuunibyou v2 sells 12322/1799, total 14,121. Down only 2.3% on v1wk1. Could see Hyouka-like consistency here, almost.
v1 adds 391 BDs, total 17,520.

Kamimashita v2 sells 1035/1537, total 2,572. Ouuuuuuuuch, down 46.8% on v1wk1. I figured the discount/ticket effect could be huge but that's pretty devastating. This volume might reach only 3k, barely half of v1.

Initial D Fifth v1 adds 2141, total 8,675.

GirlPan v1 adds 463 BDs, total 19,176. Looks like the rumor of 500 unit restock at Amazon wasn't far off, assuming its the only place that restocked (which might be questionable).

Little Busters v1 adds 204 BDs, total 11,609.

K v1 adds 218 BDs, total 9,297.
v2 adds 181 BDs, total 6,575.
v3 adds 259 BDs, total 6,217.
v4 adds 720/455, total 6,792.

Psycho-Pass v1 adds 271 BDs, total 8,314.

Ixion DT v2 adds 246/449, total 3,841.

Summer update:
Yuru Yuri♪♪ v5 sells 4888/898, total 5,786. Hrm, even with DVDs ranking it's a good drop. The last event ticket app (v3) started at 7.2k. Well, it'll still be over 6k, and the series should still average a hair over 7k at worst.

Jintai v5 sells 3853/636, total 4,489. Another one that got DVDs this time, after missing them the previous volume in the holiday rush (and volume before too for that matter).

Sword Art Online v1 adds 277 BDs, total 44,018.
v2 adds 224 BDs, total 39,348.
v3 adds 542 BDs, total 35,867.

Horizon II v4 adds 346, total 19,780. wk4 would have been 129 then.

Tari Tari v5 adds 469 BDs, total 7,570.

Oda Nobuna v5 adds 309 BDs, total 4,690.

Past seasons:
n/a

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Bakemonogatari BD Box adds 279, total 31,831. This isn't actually its 13th week, it's been out longer than that, but it must be its first week back in the countable rankings for Oricon in quite some time. So there's actually no gap data to fill in.
02) ¥1009.7m (48,082 * ¥21,000) - Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED (4 parts: 11,457 + 11,491 + 12,473 + 12,661
03) ¥*935.8m (31,831 * ¥29,400) - Bakemonogatari
04) ¥*873.9m (21,903 * ¥39,900) - Toradora!

Gundam SEED BD Box v4 adds 296, total 13,114. wk4 was 157.
01) ¥1356.6m (34,000 * ¥39,900) - Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
02) ¥1019.2m (48,535 * ¥21,000) - Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED (4 parts: 11,457 + 11,491 + 12,473 + 13,114
03) ¥*935.8m (31,831 * ¥29,400) - Bakemonogatari

Minami-ke BD Box adds 294, total 3,149.

Next week, Robono and Zetsuten. The week after, Hiiro 2, Medaka 2, Sakurasou, Jojo, and Magi.

Not directly related to sales, but still interesting, there's a site tracking anime hashtag usage (cf. ultimatemegax), and it uses both romaji and Kana/Kanji tags, making it VERY useful.

The admin team of Amazon Stalker is pretty quick in response. I found that although AKB0048 BD/DVDs were solicited on the same day as Nanoha 2nd movie BD/DVD (yesterday), they did not show up in Amazon Stalker while Nanoha did. I sent them a message and within an hour the Stalker has all the data including ranking history and accumulated points for AKB0048 up on the site.

Heh, Kotoura-san from 39th to 7th in a week. Paired with its rise in the Amazon charts, that says a lot.

I agreed initially but now I'm not sure. Minami-ke is really holding together nicely compared to expectations, and actually surpassed Tamako's median rank earlier today. It's also only four volumes, so it's pretty affordable. lastly, it's more consistent, while Tamako briefly peaks inside the top 100 before dropping way down to 200 (211 right now). The character of Dera was a huge gamble... hes the show's most unique feature for some, but its biggest turn-off for others for the same reason.

Never know what the future will bring (fingers crossed episode three does the trick), but based on what we know right now, it's looking like the tiers are:
Vivipan
Maoyuu / Haganai
Love Live
Minami-ke / Tamako
Kotoura-san / Senran / OreShura

And I'm probably selling Maoyuu short here, it's been performing like a 10k minimum series all along so it might be considerably higher than Haganai if it keeps it up.

Other than Kotoura-san (which would rise a tier if it keeps doing what its doing), Love Live's v1→v2 drop is the biggest wild card of the season, it could be as high as #2 if it doesn't drop, all the way down to 7th or 8th if it has an AKB0048-like drop or worse.

I've also been noticing the Hyoubu Kyousuke anime putting up modest numbers in both formats, which might make neither one impressive by itself, but combine to something decent. Unlikely to be a contender for the top though.

Edit: Oh and I guess there's always Hetalia when that gets solicited, though it sells a less now than at its peak.

Don't agree with that at the moment, Tamako is doing nicely at HMV (not Chuunibyou-like, but still pretty good), so I still think that's enough to outsell Minami-ke (and Love Live if it drops).
Anyway, fingers crossed for Tamako to gain more strength in the next days/weeks.

It has been solicited. Doing pretty bad until now.

Hmm, I find Dera quite charming in Tamako . Maybe it's because I watch a ton of family guy and talking animals don't phase me at all. Still, I hope it rises in the next ep or two.

Actually I was about to say the same thing. In fact there are buzzes in 2ch Sales Thread about how Minami-ke may end up being the TOP FOUR instead. There is growing support for a new list of TOP FOUR candidates: ViviPan, MaoYuu, Haganai 2nd, and then Love Live or Minamike 4th. Tomakoma is relegated to something like "potential candidate", along with OreShura and Kotoura-san (what a shock - I take it that many just get swept by the hype at the moment as objectively speaking it is still far below shows like Tamakoma).

I have to agree with you here. One thing that is not favorable to Tomakoma is that many fans are still not quite sure what to make of it after 2 episodes. Of course as an original anime, it is perhaps not too surprising. But then it is also thus natural for fans to start to form opinion based on what they see, and so far we see a lot of the bird, particularly in ep.1 And from what I've seen, opinion is very much divided about this bird. Character design wise, it is not seen to be that cute (neither its appearance or its voice/talking style gets high score from fans), and it often gets pretty annoying and nosy, particularly with its habit of gluttony and mistaking girls fallen in love with it. From what I see, the bird is sometimes not necessary, but sometimes it plays key role to get people going or seeing things they otherwise don't see. So it is acting like a magic catalyst for a neighborhood heartful slice-of-life comedy, but the focus on it also means a lot is staked upon the reception of this character, perhaps at the expense of other characters like Tamako. And so far the picture does not look overly encouraging. As the saying goes, for 1 cour series watch at least up to ep.3 before judging it, I guess how the story develops and how the characters start to interact in the coming ep.3 may be one chance to help fans decide what this show is really about or where it is heading to. And yet it seems ep.3 will be all about the spectacled girl....

I fully agree with this tier structure.

It is a bit hard to tell for MaoYuu - we are not sure whether it is skewed towards storefront or Amazon, and fans in 2ch are puzzled about how much of the push is from the LN fans who may be placing their orders early. There are quite many who have doubts whether this show is really popular enough to become the 2nd bestselling title of the season on top of shows like Haganai or Love Live which are better known for having eager fans (compared to MaoYuu).

It's been doing decently, yeah. But Minami-ke has ranked well at times too.

HMV Daily Top 100, "Date: Tamako / Minami-ke"
1/08: na / *6
1/09: na / 41

1/10: 24 / 16
1/11: *1 / 53
1/12: *9 / 62
1/13: 30 / 92
1/14: 11 / 19
1/15: 14 / 73
1/16: 20 / 10
1/17: 24 / *9
1/18: 14 / *9
1/19: *2 / **
1/20: 13 / 78
1/21: ** / 15
1/22: *3 / **

Starting from the 8th when Minami-ke was solicited. Tamako was solicited on the 10th. Tamako will very likely be stronger at HMV but Minami-ke might have decent storefront sales. Some of the days they were outside the top 100 are a bit weird, and could be glitches since on some of those days, the other volumes ranked and you'd expect v1 to do better.

Neither is really ranking at the other stores Stalker tracks (Rakuten, Animate, Gamers, Softmap) unfortunately but the latter three only publish Top 10s, which doesn't tell us a lot.

Oh, lower than I expected, must be why I didn't see it. Well, it doesn't air until the 25th, which could be part of it, and I expect it to be a storefront title. But it's like the 5th season or something so you'd think fans would order it early. Dunno.

Bird turned me off from Tamako and potatoes from Maoyuu. Why grandfather ferret doesn't ruin Vivipan is hard to explain.

Kotoura - san manga does start off quite differently than the anime but still seems good. Did not realize how old it was though new volume comes out next month.

I am quite enjoying some that will bomb most likely, Problem Children and De Capa III. Not sure yet if they are import worthy. Amnesia and Problem Children OPs I will buy for sure...
