[JP] Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann BD-Box [EngSub]

This was a show I wanted to own BDs for, but fuck no, I'm not paying that much for it. And I forgot this was animated in SD, so I need to wait for a verdict on how that gets handled anyway.

At that price, I'm probably just going to have to hope for a cheaper R1 version. I don't even know if I can afford the stuff I have on order plus guaranteed purchases (sequels), I sure as hell can't add in a $500+ box set to that. I'd be willing to pay $150-250 for a Bakemonogatari-esque U.S. release, assuming I can afford it with other things I'm buying at the time.

Not surprised at all on the BD-Box release. The price point was definitely higher than I would have guessed. It will be interesting to see if EngSub and/or EngDub will be included with this (if so an import option may pop up via Aniplex of America).

Even though this is Aniplex and not Bandai Visual who released two versions of Gunbuster and Diebuster, I really hope that the "COMPLETE" in the title of the leaked listing is a sign of a regular and a "complete" edition. I'd be totally fine with just owning the series if it's a little cheaper than this.

Though the chances of this being the case are slim.

¥63k is still ouch but there is a lot of stuff in this.

Also wow this will be the first time I import something with English subs I can actually watch. Due to the nature/setting of the show, I can more or less tolerate commercial subs with this one.

I'm definitely happy with how this turned out, since they did about as much as one could to justify a price like that. It's a hell of a lot more content than was in the similarly-priced Kanon and Clannad BD sets I imported.

This may sound crazy but I think that totally justifies the price. That is a lot of content. Though I guess the price being "justified" entirely depends on how much you love this series and what comes after the TV series such as the movies and parallel works.

This is one of my top 10 and I can say now that I will own the JP BDs of this one as well! There sure is a lot of stuff and it's awesome! Really nice to have the subs as well.
