Luis, I respectfully disagree with your view of the disc.

For me, this was really when the series hooked me and made a fan.The story that spanned from episodes 51 (last episode of the previous disc) through episode 54 is truly some of what this series has to offer. It really made me like Inuyasha as a character, and that was something I'd been on the bubble about until I saw these episodes. There are some really powerful moments in here that define him and shows how much he's grown since the beginning of the series.

On the surface, yes this does seem like the basic power-up episodes. But, there's a lot more to it. The big revelation is what happened after the events in episodes 51-52, when Inuyasha realizes that what he always wanted isn't what he expected it to me. Without that knowledge, he would have never succeeded in episodes 53-54 and drawing the issue regarding the heavy Tessaiga. Like mentioned in the review, the humor really helps in alleviating the personal struggle that Inuyasha goes through during this.

I think this volume deserves an A because of it. That's how I would rank it. When I want to watch Inuyasha, this is among the first set of episodes I immediately grab.

That's where we differ in opinion; the moments are so predictable that they lack any power for myself. Is there any doubt that when Inu Yasha begins transforming again that he'll reach the sword through sheer strength of will? Or that he'll instantly master the backlash wave without knowing how he did it? The situations provided little reason for me to connect with the plot. He gains so much power but with no real cost.

The episodes just didn't work for me outside of the humor. So, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I think the cost to him came when he slaughtered all of those humans when his youkai side took over. And I do wish the dub had kept the original name. Toutousai actually says it correctly in English, then jumped back to translating it. And, I think you're right on that last point. I did want to toss in my view, though.
