Default Grinding noise when playing devil lady complete collection

I am getting a grinding noise when playing devil lady complete collection, a mark is left on the inner ring of the disk. This is the only set of disks that make the grinding noise on my player. It does not make this noise on my computer dvd player.

I also can't start the episodes from the main menu; I have to manually go to the chapters by using my remote.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure, but it sounds like that DVD rot problem that was talked about in another thread.

Well after cleaning my player it will start the episodes from the main menu .but the grinding sound scars the hell out of me so I didn’t play it for more than a few seconds.

But it’s still the only disks that are making that grinding sound.

Sounds like the disk is not being gripped correctly. Have you checked to see if there is anything strange in the hole, or near the center of the disk like a glue blob or something?

I have 2 quick questions.

1. Is devil lady a duel layered disk?
2. Are duel layered disk thicker than a single layer disk?

1) Yes, all but the last disc I think (not entirely sure on the last disc, it may be dual layer as well).

2) No.

My disks feel abnormally thick. I’m going to try and exchange them at the store today.

Is it happening with all the discs or just one? It sounds like your player isn't blancing the disc(s) properly.

It was disk 1, 2, 3, 4 that made the grinding sound. 5, 6 played fine.

I tried to exchange it today but they were sold out. The only store that had some in stock was in Santa Clara, that’s just a bit to far from Sacramento (122 miles)

The last disc is more likely to be dual layered than the earlier ones - the episode counts are 5/4/4/4/4/5 IIRC
